Third party Xbox 360 Slim hard drives??

Hey y'all,

I have always been a pc gamer, a while back i just stopped having time to play pc games due to a shift in career and stopped caring about always having to upgrade my rig, but i am getting back into casual gaming now.

I am about to pick up my first console, an xbox 360 slim E (i don't want to get into if i made the right choice right now hehe smile.gif ).
I was about to buy the 4GB version for $179 but then i realized that I would need more space for games, and external hard drives can only be 32GB, so i must get an internal upgrade!

I am looking at hard drives, the official 250GB is $100, but then i saw these on Amazon , third party ones, the 250GB is only $43 and 320GB is only $53.

And even though i read some forum posts from 2009 saying that xbox no longer supports third party hard drives, I am still reading SUPER positive reviews for these hard drives up until ones written only weeks ago saying that they work really well.

EDIT: here is the LINK http://www.amazon.com/250GB-Internal-Drive-Xbox360-Games/dp/B008TP1OKI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1395671518&sr=1-1&keywords=250gb+250g+internal+hdd+hard+drive+disk+disc+for+xbox360+xbox+360+s+slim+games

Anyone have experience with these? are there any downsides?

thanks!

If I remember correctly most drives should work. All you need to do is use a special piece of software to format the drive so the XBOX360 can read the new HDD. I formatted a 120GB some time ago doing that because I didn't want to pay a ridiculous amount of price for an official HDD.

I just read in the reviews for the HD i linked that all you need to do is format it within the XBOX 360
