Nevermond they're making quite a lot of money in the process. Ubisoft went through MS but still sells to Valve and they enjoy a profit no matter whom it's through. Now because of games like the AC franchise(UbiCanada) M$ sees that they can carve a piece of Steam off for themselves. This is a no brainer.

Because of this I flat refuse to do business with disingenuous companies like EA, If M$ thinks they're gonna turn a profit on this they're sadly mistaken because there are only a handful of UbiWare that Gamers religiously enjoy. Those being AC, FarCry and a couple of others I am probably forgetting.

M$ should stick to putting out the next Windows and develop it so that you can stick with the Desktop and leave the Phone OS on the developers table. Just because it works on our Smart phones doesn't men that it's what we need on our PC. The size of the screen and lack of touch logic on MOST systems relegates that Win8 pukeware wastebin imho. Can't hardly do a bleedin thing in Win8 and I refuse to spend my hard earned money on Win8. So unless they plan to offer 360/One titles through it and allow Valve to purchase licenses and give us Gamers more choices, it's not worth it for us AND them.

You mean like how Valve is giving us choice... oh wait.

How do you figure?

If game Developers won't sell Licenses to Valve to include in their library, that limits what is available don't it?

Also they don't really have a traditional OS and that's gonna change fairly soon with the move to Steam machines. You will still be able to download and use the traditional Steam console if you don't own a Steam machine so I'm lost as to your thought process here. What kind of choice are you wanting here? thinking.gif

It's discouraging when the attitude isn't a reasoned "Wait and See", but is instead a cynical "Hate and See". I'm sure it's REALLY encouraging for people working on these projects to know that no matter what amazing thing they create, the vast majority of people are going to completely slime it on the Internet.

Wait and see is justified with clean or positive track record. Given the MS track record with that kind of promises the skeptical attitude is entirely justified in my opinion.

carniflex beat me to the punch but it's a case of you "you reap what you sow". Microsoft has been feeding us a line of bs for years and have either seen nothing or crud when it comes to pc gaming. Unsurprisingly, people expect exactly that. Respect has to be earned, not assumed. And really when is the last time microsoft created "something amazing" for the PC?

I take it you've not really followed M$ trends over the past 5 years?

This is the bi-annual statement they do. They inform PC gamers that we've not been forgotten, that they have someting amazing in the works, and we just need to hold out a "little longer". And what did we get? GFWL...That fail product that killed more game titles than any other third party launcher. We also received a app store..For our Desktops.

Besides that, every time they've told us we would get some love, it was idle PR and nothing more.

If they start listening to the consumers, and release products that are functional and drive PC gaming forward I'll be less..Cynical.

No, but MS sure as heck have tried their hardest over the years to intentionally sabotage and kill it. The ONLY thing that could POSSIBLY even in the smallest of probabilities make this time any different is that Ballmer is now out of the equation. However I haven't read much if anything on Nadella's view on PC gaming.

Ballmer would have been a good CEO for IBM in the 70's, but he was an absolute disaster for MS. He was so risk-averse that they have had zero innovation since he took over. His leaving was the best thing that could happen for that company. They could have had so much market share in some high profile tech but blew it.

Also monkey boy dance.

Can work both ways - for me that would be ' lets show them what we can do ' make me more determined thumb.gif

You joined last year, with a handful of posts compared to some of us. I may have joined in 2010 or whatever but I've seen this over and over again. MS promises to do better to the PC crowd. Who's shown us love? I hate to say it, Valve. GFWL? While I didn't hate it, it was a failure. DX? The idea of a company holding all the cards so hardware manufacturers could only push new advances when MS said so?

Have people forgotten that? When MS decided to only push DX advances when they wanted too? Sure it made the GPU plane more even but it had another objective, to only allow DX to progress when they wanted.... Consoles anyone? I remember that, back when GPU companies would go "only supported on our device". MS put the ban hammer on that stuff, where features were hardware specific to one manufacturer. MS stopped that, sure it was great but really?

Anyways, many of us will have to see it to believe it. So far MS has crapped on their promises left and right, many will vouch for that.
