With your 560 Ti?

If so, then damn: this game really is optimized better for AMD CPUs. I mean, your performance isn't that much better than mine...

Whoops, I misspoke. I thought I had everything at very high. I guess only a few settings at very high. Fraps log says average of 38, max 77, min 27.

Regardless, I think that you should get 40+ fps with a 770. But if it were me, I would wait till the 8xx series is out, should lower some prices, and a few months isn't too long to wait.

Yeah, I have to admit that my performance is playable most of the time. There are a few areas where I'll notice the performance dip down into the low 20s with frametimes being in the mid to upper 40s.

Vsync is simply not a good idea on a game like Crysis 3, if a frame takes a fraction of a millisecond longer than 16.7ms you'll either tear (adaptive vsync) or stutter (regular vsync)

Yep, I definitely get tearing without V-Sync and it's too distracting for me.

In the test run here, ref 290x gets only 55fps avg on 1080p with fxaa. You'd need significantly higher averages, think 75-85 or so, to maintain a vsync comfortably without quite often stutters due to one frame taking a hair longer than 16.7ms to be rendered. Gk110 and Hawaii cards are also quite a big step over 770/680

It's beginning to sound like I wouldn't really notice much of a difference with the 770.

On my 780 I have now, Geforce experience sets it to 1x smaa low, object to med, and shadows med everything else max that gives me 60fps constant.

I haven't actually tried to play with full settings manually yet so I can't tell you if I can max it 60fps. I realize that Geforce experience is probably conservative with its estimates and I could push it a little higher. I guess your extra threads may help as Crysis likes CPU power. Hope that helps a bit.

It does help. Thank you!

As I told Cryo999, it's beginning to look like I wouldn't notice much of a difference with the 770. Perhaps I should start saving up for a 780.

singleplayer isnt that intensive as multiplayer.even singleplayer has less fps drops than MP

Yeah... my SLI 480's don't stand a chance against this game. Maxxed all the way out I get 30-40 fps. With MSAA down a bit and a little backed-down on a few other non-major settings I can pull a solid 60.

Crysis3 is a beast. SLI 680s are what I'm wagering would be necessary to truly max it at 60fps

To give some input, my GTX 480 @950Mhz was able to play Crysis 3 with medium settings, no AA on 1200P very smoothly. Never really checked, but I'd guess never below 50FPS.

A GTX 770 will probably get 35 - 45FPS with everything maxed with no AA @1080P. Just a guess here.

More so with lower resolution.

your resolution could be a problem(1680x1050)

I wouldnt buy a 780gtx at that resolution)unless you are going to use all graphics to the max(even AA)

Sorry, didn't know for sure which we were talking about.

I can't find too many good MP games, especially hunters which is my favorite game type. I did lower everything to high back when I played MP, otherwise it wasn't very playable.

What are your thoughts on waiting for the Maxwell cards to come out?

my thoughts are: you wont die for waiting for a card in some.months when you have a very useful card for gamig at medium settings and of course always there is an alternative from.amd if you need some opencl use

I guess I'm not really looking for a constant 60 FPS here, but I just want to stop dipping down into the 20s. I'd be quite happy with framerates in the 40s and up.

Everything is already maxed out except for AA, which I have set to FXAA. I'll probably continue using FXAA because I tried SMAA and MSAA even at their highest settings when I had some time to myself after clearing out an area (I only play SP), and I just wasn't really impressed. If anything, I'd say that I prefer the look of FXAA.

I'm even using V-Sync.
