3570K OC on turbo boost

Thread Starter
Hi everyone,

This is my first post, even though I've been following the community for quite some time.
I am fairly new to OC, as I've done this only once with my old CPU.
My knowledge is a bit rusty, so I'm researching tutorials/guides online. I've found the Ivy Bridge Overclocking Guide here, and I'm going through it atm.

So I have a 3570K + GA-Z77X D3H mobo. Full specs in my signature.
I want to OC it up to 4.5 Ghz, to reduce the time it takes to do photo/video rendering. I don't want to have a 24/7 OC, so I want to use the turbo boost feature.

I have tweaked a few settings and the problem is that none work.
I'm getting a system freeze, or a BSOD with BAD_POOL_CALLER at startup.
After restarting, even the BIOS freezes, so that I have to do a clear CMOS.

Here are the settings I've made. The bolded values are modified from the defaults, in parentheses.

CASE 1
CPU Clock Ratio - 34
Intel(R) Turbo Boost Technology - Auto
Turbo Ratio (1-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Ratio (2-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Ratio (3-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Ratio (4-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Power Limit - auto
Core Current Limit - auto
CPU Core Enabled - auto
CPU Enhanced Halt - auto
CPU Thermal Monitor - disabled (auto)
CPU EIST Function - auto

CASE 2
CPU Clock Ratio - 34
Intel(R) Turbo Boost Technology - Auto
Turbo Ratio (1-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Ratio (2-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Ratio (3-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Ratio (4-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Power Limit - 250 (auto)
Core Current Limit - 250 (auto)
CPU Core Enabled - auto
CPU Enhanced Halt - auto
CPU Thermal Monitor - disabled (auto)
CPU EIST Function - auto
CPU Vcore - 1.350V (auto)

CASE 3
CPU Clock Ratio - 34
Intel(R) Turbo Boost Technology - Auto
Turbo Ratio (1-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Ratio (2-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Ratio (3-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Ratio (4-Core Active) - 44 (auto)
Turbo Power Limit - auto
Core Current Limit - auto
CPU Core Enabled - auto
CPU Enhanced Halt - auto
CPU Thermal Monitor - disabled (auto)
CPU EIST Function - auto
CPU Vcore - 1.230V or 1.210V (auto)

So how should I go for it? Thanks!

Welcome to OCN smile.gif

Have you updated the Bios? Can you test the memory at stock clocks for a few hours?
