AMD soon to announce something.

my guess is GTX 880 is a GM10x small die that has 780Ti performance for $499 while drawing something ridiculous like under 150W

Consider when the Titan was released and how long those guys have been using their GPUs. Over a year, the Titan is still a beast in gaming performance or CUDA development. Sounds good to me. The Titans were also co-designed for CUDA development as well, something that the 780 is not nearly as good at since it is 1/24th DP compared to the Titan.

Nobody is forcing anyone to buy anything. The people buying this stuff have disposable income to spare and generally don't care; if someone has money issues caused by GPUs they need to re-evaluate the budget at hand prior to purchase. It should not be like that. If funds are tight, common sense dictates, spend less. If you're worried about over-spending on tech which may become overshadowed in 6 months, common sense tells you to do. Isn't that the obvious answer? I sure as heck didn't buy the Titan, I *knew* that 6GB would be overkill for my needs. So I just happily used my 680 sli at the time which killed every game I threw at it. You don't NEED the latest or greatest. As it turns out, sometimes being one step below that still gives you amazing performance. I know my 680 SLI setup gave me great service, I loved them. Were they better than Titan SLI? No. Did I care? Absolutely not. Don't see me whining. All due respect, you don't spend money on stuff that is overkill for your needs. I sure didn't. So there's no need for complaining in this.

No offense or anything, but I don't get whining about something like this. This isn't the first time or the last time that technology...advances and becomes cheaper over time. It is not nearly as bad now as it was 10-15 years ago, IMO. That being said, there have been times where I spent way more than I needed. I didn't complain because it's the nature of the game. Technology advances. It's like having the latest or greatest smartphone or tablet; do you think it's going to be the best in a year? Heck no. Such is the nature of being bleeding edge. It's how things are.

I agree. One of the fun things in life is getting a new card and benching it to find out what it can do.

Well, the last word from Nvidia was that 800 series was second half 2014. Now is a great time for them to talk about what's coming in some detail, but still rather far off from a launch date.

H2 could be as early as July. Though, it's probably going to be more like August or September. AMD might try to crash the party by announcing their dual GPU card but we all know all the gamers are watching the next 20nm generation.

I'm hoping the 880s are at least a good 20% faster. Also hoping evga gets a classified version out asap. Probably 3 months or so after reference release though frown.gif

780 classy is probably going to end up being my dedicated physx card too T.T. And I doubt I'll be able to wait until the classy version comes out. So it's going to be weird having a monstrous classified card as my lower card, and the midget 880 on top.
