[CLOSED] 3D Fanboy Overclocking Competition 2014 - $500 in prizing! - Page 14

I ran firestrike, but because I'm a cheapo, I didn't buy 3D mark and have to sit through like 20 minutes of benchmarking. (So this thing had better be stable) If only I could cool this freaking CPU. It's pulling close to 60C on the cores at 4.88Ghz, when this test is running. Where as I've benched this at 5+Ghz and it was alright, because the tests weren't so long.

Anyhow, here's my score, it's nothing special. (This test also crashes with the GPU at more than 1170Mhz for some reason, where as Heaven will run at 1.2Ghz all day)

Same PC as all the other tests rolleyes.gif

My 270 has really been getting a workout these past weeks. Between bot submissions and Bioschock infinite, I'm surprised it isn't smoking

EDIT: I submitted this result to HWbot. I've got the world records in all three categories of this competition for the the R9 270. (Granted, only two people ran fire strike, as no points are awarded) But nonetheless, I'm going to get mopped in the single card category because my hardware isn't fast enough, not because I didn't try hard enough. Oh well, go red!

Don't feel bad I'm right there with ya. I feel dinky compared to these guys with 780 Ti SLI. Makes me wish I wouldn't have sold off my other 7870XT seeings as just one gives roughly a 3rd of the 780ti SLI scores on these benches . Would have been cool to see 2X $200 GPU's put up 2/3 of the performance of 2X $700 GPU's biggrin.gif

I'm pulling about 75% of the performance of a GTX 680 out of mine.

I got my R9 270 for $199 (prices started to climb) and if I submitted my heaven score to the GTX 760 board, I'd be in like 4th spot, nipping at the heels of 3rd globally. (The GTX 760 is a $300 card in Canada)

So yea, it's nice to trade punches with people who spent 50% more than you, but at the end of the day, it'd be nice to go a little bit faster.
How cool would it be if instead of comparing hardware based on what card you have, rather, how much you paid? Have a competition where you have a GPU worth X amount of dollars and you compete for scores based on that. I.E, <$200 bracket, <$350, <$650 and compete from there. A man can dream right? redface.gif

Whatever, it's all about having fun, not winning prizes

edit: I figured I'd save you a search.

Got some Heaven benchmarks here.

Class 1

Class 2

Unfortunately I think my CPU and one of my cards is getting ready to kick the bucket, or maybe its the whole mainboard, but I can't overclock anything without my system crashing, and it's even giving me lip sometimes when everything is stock, so this is all I'm able to contribute. But...

Previous versions of Windows had a real time clock (Windows RTC) to keep time with frequency changes, this was removed from windows 8/8.1 to make it mobile compatible, so when making changes in the OS, windows can perceive time differently.
So when running something that counts FPS, 1 second in windows may not be the same as one second in real time & the FPS count is different.

So the OS basically has a built in time hack, Futuremark has updated to account for it with systemifo 4.20 or later installed, with other benchmarks there is no way to tell if a score is valid or not.

ahh thankyou I remember reading about that But I totally forgot.

now my firestrike scores suck 11150 with two 7970s @ 1150/6200. its weird this stable release msi afterburner is causing my number 1 gpu to underclock its weird. no matter the clocks i put it at it runs it about 80mhz less at times for no reason then will jump up and hold my clocks, did this at 1300 mhz as well. really odd, have no problem holding these clocks full load in bf4

I'll jump in for the SLI category. But I can't seem to get Catzilla to work. Everytime I click 720p, it asks to register (which I did using my Google account like 4 times).....

Anyways, here's the screen shot (old 3dMark score with lower GPU clocks):
