Should I use different thermal grease for CPU / GPU?

Thread Starter
My first watercooling project here so bear with me please. I've got 3 different tubes here (from previous projects) and I hope you can suggest which one would be the best choice.

Arctic Silver 5

Arctic Silver Ceramique 2

XSPC K2 (came with waterblocks)

The CPU is an i5 with an XSPC Raystorm (copper) block

The GPU is an R9 270 with an XSPC Rasa (copper) block

Thanks!

No you don't need different stuff.

Arctic Silver 5 is the best of those options.

I personally prefer Gelid's thermal solution as it's a superior mix between wet pastes and dry pastes.

I've used both the arctic silver 5 and xspc's stuff and didn't even realize I had used 2 different tubes. I saw no performance change between the two.

AS5 is conductive so careful.. I would use Arctic Silver Ceramique 2 there is no curing time. AS5 was awesome back in the day.

AS5 used to be good, now there are plenty paste better with no curing time.

If you haven't seen difference when you re-applied AS5, then you really don't know what you were doing. When you reapply the AS5 you should get AT LEAST higher temperature. If I recall correctly 3-5C delta highest temperature is the difference you get before curing.

Either way, paste to paste you might get 1-2C better. I tried many many many paste and I would just get a paste like MX-2 or 4 if you ever want to try something else.

I'm still about a week away from firing this thing up so that should be enough curing time?

Wut, proly super dry.

It's good to assume curing time won't be longer than a week.
