need help overclockng gtx 780 SC refernce cooler

What exactly does memory clock offset do? I hear my card does 6ghz stock but on gpuz the actual read out is aroung 1.5 ghz. And increasing 500mhz increases it to like 1.9 ghz. All i want is 7ghz on the memory. I have bios flashed it btw so it no longer "boosts" so i set the stock speed at 1228 and it works perfect, but every time i set +500 mhz on the memory offset with precision x after a restart it resets?

Also opening the stock bios with keplar bios tweaker the memory clock says 3004. I thought this ran 6ghz stock so should i change it to 7004 for 7ghz and reflash?



So im asking what do i set in the bios tweaker so it runs stock at 7000mhz like the 780ti. It runs perfect at 1.2 volts at 1228mhz and it has soom room for my overclock but increasing it higher than 1267 isn't stable even at 1212 MV. So where it says 3004mhz in the bios should i set that to 3500? How come the actual reading in gpuz is 1500 stock and 2001 when i do +500 mhz offset ?

You are running correct speeds. The speed you see in GPU-Z is actually multiplied by 4. So when it says 1500mhz in GPU-Z you are running 6000mhz effective, or at 1900mhz you are running 7600mhz.

In the bios tweaker you need to multiply by 2 to get effective speed. So when it says 3004mhz its actually 6008mhz effective.
So basically set value to half of what you want here.

thanks i assumed thats what it was like. But for some reason i set the offset to +500 in precision and i can quit out of it and re launch it and my setting will stay, but a reboot will make the setting reset back to 0. My voltage and coreclock will save though.

What i ended up dong was going to 1.2 volts, and running 1202 on core, and 3504 on the memory and it runs stable. Im working on getting it watercooled.

Just a quick question so im planning on getting a 420 mm rad and a 240mm rad. I was gonna have the output for the gpu waterblock (which i would guy the swiftech gtx 780 block) go to the 420mm rad then the cooled water go to the cpu, and then that water go to the reosovir/pump then to a 45mm thick 240mm rad then back to the gpu. Assuming it looks good the tubing management, would this be ideal? I plan on doing 2 way sli with the same exact card and an overclock aswell so thats why it would go to the 420mm radiator first then the cpu.

No problem. I can't say why it won't save the settings, but you could use MSI Afterburner instead. It's made by the same guy who makes Precision X, and is better in every way (much more updated and more features). Remember to use Beta versions of it though.

Sounds good, thats a good clock.

The order of a watercooling loop does not matter at all. Only thing that matters is that the reservoir is before the pump, and that the pump is placed lower than the reservoir to get all the water it needs. Otherwise you are free to do whichever order you want to.
Would also advice you to go for either a XSPC or EK waterblock instead of Swiftec, as Swiftec has mediocre blocks (they where better before).

one more question, does the order of the connector matter? if it says in can i make it an "out" ?

DO NOT mix in and out. If it says in/out on the on the block, pump or whatever (or in the manual) follow them. Not doing so can cause dramatic rise in temperatures and/or lower flow in the loop.
Although some waterblocks allow you to choose whichever you want. For example the blocks for my 780 Lightning's, I can use whatever I want. While on the cpu block I need to follow the in and out instructions to get the best result.
