Stuff like that *always* happens in software!

Not saying you are wrong b/c I don't work in software so you are much more in the know. However I can say this is the first time I've ever heard of a company telling people on release day itself that they will be delaying. Usually you hear much earlier.

Nah, it really can happen at every stage. First concepts, during build and during release.

They will have a bunch of migration scripts that prepare the live/production systems to have software rolled out. This is something that is very difficult to test in a non-real world scenario. Most companies will do some blackbox testing, but it doesn't really reflect real world usage.

So, they can begin a rollout and find that some scripts are causing issues with production servers etc... That happens a lot in software and tends to be why companies do staged rollouts. E.g. With cell phone updates, one person gets it on day 1, another person gets it day 5... they rollout over a period of time.

With games you can't do that, the software must be available day 1. So, if you have a problem when rolling out, you have to stop the whole thing.

That is software, that is real life. This stuff happens a lot, believe me!

I feel like there is a lot of problems when it comes to BF in general. Compare to any other game its a lot more advanced on what you can do and the depth of the game. Being so its a much hard game to program. Now EA thinks its just another cash cow and want release dates similar to any other scrawny game. BF need a good 4-5 years of internal development to come out to public. While BF4 is not much different then BF3 from what i remember BF3 did not have this many problems apart from engine bugs which only effected visuals.

Same for me. Its very rare I see any bugs with this game. People whining that the game is broken or unplayable just baffles me. Maybe its the ones that are no good at mulitplayer so they just blame it on the game. Its a blast for me, cant wait for the DLC to drop.

Personally i've had very few issues with BF4. Mantle has some stuttering, some weird object glitches and hitboxes gone awry... but nothing out of the oridinary or that I didn't come across in other titles.

All in all it works well for me. Good performance, good game!

Nothing I've tryed comes close to the experience of this game.

Same here for me. I've had no major issues and really enjoy the game. Every now and then sound will cut out on a vehicle right after I enter it, or I'll have trouble jumping over something in a specific spot, but that's about it. Nothing to keep me from having fun.

I also remember BF3 having some problems, which at the time seemed very annoying but they pale in comparison to BF4's issues. They cleared just rushed BF4 out to beat COD, which is the most annoying aspect of all because not only did they not need to do that (cmon...as if COD is a genuine threat to this), they could have just released the game 6 months later with it working fine and they would have garnered so much respect for doing that.

I'm sure they did, just bugs happen at every stage of the development/release lifecycle.

That's life.

lol I'd like to walk to my boss and say, sorry I know today is release day, but... ummm we're delaying.. and umm, until further notice.

mmkay?

I'd like to see how the rest of that conversation goes down...
