I heard a couple of months ago that they might do a streaming service where you could stream ps3 games. Isn't this the same streaming service? Or are we talking about physical copies? Can't read the source at work.

Meh...I have limited time to play as well, but I've found the older games to be much more entertaining then newer games. In my opinion at least, I have come to the conclusion that the best games that ever will be made came out in the span from about 1990 to 2000...with honorable mentions in the few years before and after. The really sad thing is I never even played a game till the year 1999 when I bought a PlayStation 1 on a whim...off a cart in Hong Kong for $40 USD no less. All those years wasted on guns, horses, and beer...

There is just something about these old games...a quality in the story...small surprises in the maps...I don't know...I just feel like the developers really enjoyed making the games or something. It is hard to put into words. All that I know is that I will enjoy them to no end and I will replay them several times and even the best newer games I tend to play through once or twice and then cast aside never to play again.

Heck, the hardware in the PS4 should be able to run ePSXe and PCSX2 with very little modification to the software. I doubt Sony needs to, but it would be nice if Sony actually approached the authors on this and truly did bring ePSXe and PCSX2 to the PS4...they deserve more recognition for all the work they've done.

They'd need to significantly improve the threading of the code to run PCSX2 fast enough on the PS4.

As nice being able to play Brute Force in 1080p would be, that just doesn't come close to competing with PS2 backwards compatibility. The exclusives on PS2 are easily better than nearly all the exclusives on Xbox.

If I wanted to play games from 10 years ago, I'd go and dust off one of the many consoles I have sitting in the loft.

If you wanted that, why did you buy a console this early in its life cycle? Typically for the first year or two you mostly get games that are also on the previous generation.

All I want is to play Dragon Valor again legally, but I can't bring myself to spending $60-$70 on a PS1 game. Man, I was dumb when I sold it. frown.gif

Eh, considering most AAA games these days seem to be generic FPS #360753 or generic open world #93727, I'll take anything that's fun. Don't Starve has been taking up a lot of my time as of late.

Sony can make a better Emulator than PCSx2 is a couple of weeks/Months, with all there programmers and $ at their disposal and also being the makers of the Ps1 and 2 they know the hardware and software better than anymore, but whos to say sony cant just buy PCSx2 and make a it better.

Why buy an emulator when you have the hardware specs at your disposal? HLE or pure emulation, they know what the game expects the hardware too do. Sooooooo..... It's kind of pointless. The bugs something like PCSx2 would encounter are trivial to them. If a part on the system is licensed out, pay for the hardware data specs and see what's up. They did design the Emotion Engine after all, with Toshiba, so everything is in house for the most part (dunno how much Toshiba put into it).

Why go through tons of code, to fix bugs when you can write the code yourself? I don't know who said it but going through code and "improving" it is just as tedious as writing your own in the end. Mainly because you have to find out what each piece of that code is doing, then figure out what it is supposed too do. So just write code that is going to do what is expected, instead of reviewing and figuring out old code. Call it a day, release it, happy gamers.

haha i think it depends on when you got into gaming, and what games were out.

im nearly 28 and while i love playing the latest games, every machine i own has Doom and Quake and the like installed, and my PS3 always has Crash Bandicoot and Spyro and MGS1 and that installed. and most of the time they get played more than modern AAA titles.

its a nostalgia thing, plus games were different back then. its nice to appreciate where todays games came from. thats why i play them anyway.
