I flashed one of my bios' on my reference xfx r9 290 to the asus r9 290 bios. went smoothly as i knew it would having flashed other cards before. ran some benches and got much better results. overclocked and got way better results with a lower oc then i was using on stock bios. went to open up a game and black screened and froze. using new bios set everything to default and same thing. any ideas?

Have you tried going back to the previous one?

Seems like a waste to get higher bench scores when games crash, that effectively reduces your in-game / real world performance to zero wouldn't you say?

yes exactly... and when i put switch to original bios it works fine. i am just confused as to why/how the asus bios seems so stable with stress tests and benches but cant load a game at all. i mean it was a huge increase in performance. roughly +700 points in unigine valley.going from 2100 to 2800 just by switching bios was shocking. i reset a few times and ran a few times to make sure it just wasnt some kind of fluke. was extremely happy and couldnt wait to test some games. but they either crashed instantly or i was able to see 3-6 seconds of the opening credits, like the game engine, amd/nvidia, title screen stuff.so disappointing. you know what they say about too good to be true.
