At this point we are all saying the same things.

What's the rest of your rig consisting of?
yea no.

there are countless 290 cards mining away 24/7 for months at 1500 mem-clock just fine

sound like catalyst or afterburner was conflicting/applying OC over each other

now its a good time to try BAMT https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=2924.0

That makes sense, I will do that and see what happens.

Take them all out and try them individually. If you can isolate the card this way, try the BIOS switch; it probably won't work, but whatever that's all you can do. Send it back.
If all three give you the same issue, there's an issue with drivers/software but the cards are probably all okay. Use safe mode to boot to windows, and flick the BIOS switches on your cards; if you still have the problem, take all your cards out and reformat windows; then start over.

Will try this as well, thank you. And now that you mention it, I did notice a green light on one of the cards, and the fans stopped spinning, while the others continued and did not have the green light. I wouldn't think a green light would indicate hardware failure, but you guys will know better than I do!

Update: SUCCESS!!

Thank you guys so much! The solution was to do a full clean install of windows and removing all old installations and then installing AMD 13.12 Drivers and launching the cards one at a time. I also needed to disable AMD crossfire in the Catalyst Control Center to remove the green light.

It seems like somehow the mining software had kept my cards from running stable, even after removing it and reinstalling drivers.

Moral of the story... Greed isn't always good.

It looks like I will settle with 870kh/s over my goal of 900 QQ.

Thank you guys!

It's a pain but short of trying a whole new rig an OS reinstall is always the best option for general troubleshooting. Sometimes simply booting from a Windows install DVD or a Linux LiveCD is enough of a test.

And I didn't even make a snide remark about greedy miners...oh wait. tongue.gif

Yeah, the OS reinstall was what really did the trick, and also having Afterburner profile set-up at safe clocks that activate at startup has helped as well with testing settings.

Of course we are greedy biggrin.gif. I almost destroyed $1800 worth of GPU's for an extra dollar per day LOL.

On a side note, I think its possible that my whole system wasn't getting enough power from the wall, as I had a lot of equipment hooked up to one outlet and sometimes when I would activate CGminer, my overhead light would flicker a little bit. I ended up running my rig to its own outlet, and the flickering has gone away. Any idea if that could have been a problem and causing cards to crash as well?

I am no electrical engineer but it stands to reason that not enough current or unstable current could affect such. There are lots of various voltage regulation chips in our PCs there to help ensure "clean" power delivery to the components because thats what they require for smooth operation.

Test them one at a time , use a Linux USB if you have to override Windows.

What PSU are you using?
