Have fun paying your $1500 to $1800 for a single GPU in the future.

Well, this makes me feel good about "only" spending $2000 on my sli Titans, and that's saying a LOT about how ridiculous those prices are.

Even if it does thats 3000 alone in GPU power. Then add another 700 at least for all the other parts and i can see that going for 4000 bucks easy. Problem is i dont think thare are any sfx power supplies that could power this monster and everything else needed. Last I heard there was a 600 watt one coming but even that i woudnt be comfortable with. I suppose Digital storm could always start building their own PSU's! thumb.gif

Just think how upset the early adopters of the Titan Z will feel when a single GTX880Ti (Maxwell) closes in on 85-90% of its dual-GPU performance within 6months, just like the original Titan and the 780.

Early adopters know what they are getting, at least gaming-wise. Something that costs 3k but performs around 1k.

Can someone tell me, from the compute standpoint what this card would be used for?? Because from my use of ANSYS Mechanical APDL and Workbench, these cards are not supported. So what would the benefit be? video encoding? Sorry for the ignorance.

Psychology isn't manipulated like that *you could manipulate it in the short term with ads, but not that impact over years on pricing, that's impossible. People will simply not buy what they can't afford, after a point.

It's not that.

They probably took Citibank's advice 3-4 years ago. A memo was exposed that was advising investors to spend money on luxury products. Why? Because in a crisis only the rich remain rich and still buy what they were always buying. The others either buy cheaper or buy nothing at all.

I remember when $300 for a video card was crazy expensive.

Hat tip to Nvidia for identifying segments of consumer demand that are untapped.
