[TWITCH] NVIDIA unveils the Titan Z - Page 29

we're in a perpetually increasing pricing-circle-jerk between these two:

AMD: $379 for flaghip? NO! $550 for flagship!

Nvidia: $500 for mid-range! biggrin.gif

AMD: Oh ya?! ONE THOUSAND for DUAL!

Nvidia: OH YA?!! WUN TOWSAND for mid-range x2! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

AMD: *crickets*

Nvidia: HAD ENUFF? ONE TOUSAND FOR SINGLE GEEPEEYEW!

Want MOAR??!!!

Nvidia: 3 FOUSAND FOAR DUAL GEEPEEYEW!! HEH BRING IT! biggrin.gif:D:D:D

There will be a couple of brainless guys who want such GPU power in one PCI-E slot for a mini-ITX build or something, but that's about it. I hope it flops hard as it's just a market limit probe by NVIDIA.

^This. 100%

How can anyone pay $3000 for what is essentially a substandard Titan Black SLI setup (same PCB = less OC'ing ability and performance) when 2 GPUs independently cost $2000? LOL..

As I mentioned somewhere else, Jen-Hsun needs gas money for his Koenigsegg CCX! XD

"GeForce GTX TITAN Z is a gaming monster, built to power the most extreme gaming rigs on the planet. With a massive 5760 cores and 12 GB of 7 Gbps GDDR5 memory, TITAN Z gives you truly amazing performance—easily making it the fastest graphics card we’ve ever made.

This is a serious card built for serious gamers. TITAN Z is designed with the highest-grade components to deliver the best experience – incredible speed and cool, quiet performance—all in a stunningly crafted aluminum case. If you’re looking for the ultimate in gaming power, GeForce GTX TITAN Z is your card. Arriving April."

While we are at it, Aluminum? At least when you buy a exotic super car it comes in carbon fiber. Yeah you can argue that would be pointless, but why bother mentioning it "looks stunning"? We all know that improves the performance right? Like a GT sticker.... 15% speed increase right there.

I should go tell them on the GeForce forums telling them that the Titan Z is NOT 12GB. I need 12GB for my 4K Surround setup! Marketing gibberish at this level shouldn't go unpunished since they're trying to dupe the generally tech-savvy gamer/enthusiast.

People that spend 3k on monitors would probably make use of this. triple 4k monitors? Now they can actually max them out with the added Vram.
Btw i know vram doesnt stack and these are 6Gb useable only. Stop ya whining people.
Also aluminium is way mpre effective than carbon fibre for heat dissapation

With seemingly more iterations of the GK110 GPUs, it really is indicative of a delay for the 800 series GPUs. EVGA is coming out with 6GB GTX-780/780-Ti and now a Titan Dual PCB GPU?

Hmm.. seems strange unless they are just trying to dump the last batch of them(?).

I have some friends in NVIDIA but they won't share any details. LOL..

No I didn't miss it. The I-Ray VCA is a purely workstation machine aimed at high-end studios etc. who's lifeline is rendering. Further, that $6250/card cannot be compartmentalized in such a way - you are paying for the whole system along with top-tier support and highly tweaked drivers for your specific application. Also, companies that buy the VCA will buy them in the dozens (spending millions on them).

This Titan Z has shenanigans written all over it since they are passing it off as a "gaming" card. It can be a gaming card - but given the fact that two GPUs almost always perform better than a dual PCB counterpart and the Z is $1000 more than two independent GPUs, this Titan Z is an absolute sham. It sure looks great. That's about it.

And for what you get is actually quite a steal in terms of business hardware investment. You get the unit, and hardware/software support (I believe the base is a year, and after that it is subscription based), and unlimited software licenses for the suite of software that was developed for the unit.

Also, the unit doesn't use Titan Z's. It uses what is essentially a Quadro K6000....times eight of them. So right off the bat, it is $40K in pure GPUs stuck inside the thing, not to mention the hardware support. Downtime is money lost in business.

If you want to fanboy war this thread like other unfortunate users in here, at least get facts correct. Not everything is a consumer product. The Iray VCA is a corporate/institution-bound product.
