[TWITCH] NVIDIA unveils the Titan Z - Page 38

I wonder if Nvidia is still planning to launch a "affordable" dual GK110 card ? smile.gif
The so called 790 ? If this Titan Z is the rumored 790, a lot of people are going to be pissed.
Let's see in 2012 the dual GPU 690 cost $1000, ok made sense back then. Then they launched a single GPU titan at $1k, fine , not over the top since we already had a $1k card out there.
If there is no more 790 and Titan Z is the last of the GK110 top end card, they've effectively tripled their price for the top end card in two years. Nicely done!

They figured if Asus can charge $1500 for their ARES dual GPU card, why can't we charge $3k ? Hey at least the ARES comes with custom liquid cooler and a hard case!

Maybe there's still hope for people waiting for the 790 , maybe a reduced core count version with 10gb or 8gb RAM, for $1500 ?

Because they are using Media that targets "us" which is annoying. They are targeting mass media with this in order to either win a few regular consumers with $$ or because they actually do want to start pushing the accepted $ amount for a higher end GPU. Much like Intel has there Xtreme CPU line where a 5 year old chip is still $1k.

Titan-Z costs the same amount asTitan black tri-SLI or 780Ti Quad SLi.

have you learned nothing in the time you''ve been posting on ocn? every time Nvidia or Intel drop a terribly priced product or something that doesn't perform as expected it always AMD's fault. seriously.

no one with a smaller case would buy a card that big to run a little monitor!!!

I don't get the comments because the card won't physically fit in an ITX case. It has a 2.5-3 slot cooler on it!

There's plenty of ITX cases where that will work fine.

This is marketed as a consumer product. Why? Because gamers are consumers.

Nvidia

Also, love how they call it "5K ready" just to add +1 to 4K. In reality 5K multi-monitor gaming (5760x1080) has much less pixels than even 1 4K display (3840x2160). Just goes to show you how far they'll go.

I see lots of advertisements for lots of things I'm not in the market for, like feminine hygiene products. Just because you see an advertisement does not mean that they want you, specifically, to buy it.

I was wondering what 5K was...I hadn't previously heard that term used until this card was announced.

Exactly, typical marketing ploy to fool the uneducated. Unless they were referring to the real 5k res, which is 5120 x 2700 . Oh wait, there isn't a consumer monitor that exists that'll display that res.

Awesome but where is my GTX 790?
