Rinse and repeat.

This is what we hope....but wait....

Maxwell will be the supposed king of mining when it comes out so that doesn't bode well.

Also guys like me that wanna jump on 4k are kinda lookin forward to the new tech

And just because, like most of us here, I love to build and upgrade

But GPU's have only one purpose (besides mining) and they don't deserve the prices they're trying to command nor do they even NEED them to succeed

Well, I doubt the pricing is going to get better unless they get worse.

Redic with those 3k ranges.
Reading some comments here makes me facepalm.

It is overpriced, no matter what.
Saying stuff like "people are mad that they can't afford now the top card" are even more redic than the pricing policy.

I am personally a guy who gets something a tad more expensive, if it lasts for my kind of needs.

However.. getting a card that delivers the same performance as two cards while being way more expensive is one thing. Getting something that gets outclassed by another product under a year is the other. Not enough nVidia is milking the cow and people fall for it.

They have the architectures and know when to press the trigger to make people buy again.. so release a product one by one.
Profit.

Sadly enough ingame experiances are quite low compared to the price you pay.

Of course it's overpriced, no matter what.

But why does that actually matter? If you think it's overpriced, then don't buy it. What good does making a stink on the internet about it do?

I doubt this will get out classed by any of Nvidia's next generation...unless they make a better dual GPU card, but that is to expected so it doesn't really count. My 580 SLI (or you could say a 590) didn't get outclassed until the 700 series and it trades blows with a 770...and I wouldn't even count the small edge the 780 has enough to worry about upgrading over. Unless you do want to count the 690, but every time you strap two of the newest GPUs on a PCB it's going to win the crown for the strongest single graphics card...though likely not by much.

So I am sure any one crazy enough to drop $3000 on this will have a competitive graphics card for several years to come. Unless DX12 takes off over night...but I am assuming it will be be few years before we see it common place even after the time we have to wait for it to be released.

This tiered release is just marketing ploy to sell more cards. Dont want, dont buy. Simple.

I guess that's actually what many thought after getting the Titan tongue.gif
Lets see what the future will bring us however it kinda gets more and more unpredictable.

Tons of people bought a Titan, then 780Ti is released and pissed a lot of people off. That is what is gonna happen with this card when they release a 790 version.

Are you doing stand up comedy when you say 780 was "gimped"? EVERY gpu on the planet is "gimped". They sell 'ungimped' professional cards since forever and now they sell luxury overpriced products too like the Titan.

The fact of the matter is Alatar is right, there was always an expensive card, but that's because the manufacturing cost is high.

Alatar was wrong to say the Titan is in that group. It's not. The 780 is. The Titan is a luxury product. It does not reflect cost.
