I doubt that scientists are willing to spend 3k on a piece of hardware. Even scientists themselves are in budget, lol.

The same goes to millionaire because there are not many of them out there who play games let alone know how to build a pc, lol.

So whom they target actually? Average gamer? LOL

Beautiful looking card ,but the price is truly not for the average consumer. This just puts another nail in the ol AMD coffin when are they going to bring something to the table that competes? And before u say anything about price lets just talk about performance.

I love Alatar defending the original sales of Titan to scientists?

Most of the scientists I hang out with, yes as in they are my friends, use Quadro series cards and wouldn't touch a titan. K6000 and K5000 is what I most commonly hear. Sometimes I hear firepro. I NEVER hear the words Geforce, Titan, or 6xxx, 7xxx, R9, R7, ETC.

Please... try again.

problem is now with the "mining craze" even AMD can't compete on price.

Also to the gentleman buying a Titan Z just to make people not like him. If you bought a Ferrari (back to the car reference since apparently we are using a Ferrari analogy to represent the titan) and it raised the price of the Honda civic by 50 to 80% over the fiscal year the ferrari was released. Would you do it? Because there is owning the best and then there is screwing EVERYONE else just to rub people's face in it. The first person is an enthusiast the second person is a jerk.

Because essentially that's what's happened. Even the GTX 580 was a high end card. The best Fermi you could buy was about 550 bucks. Then we had Kepler price rise, then we had Kepler Refresh. What we saw was that once the competitors knew it was ok to raise prices (AMD) we've seen nothing but premium increases. They were small, 5 , 10 , 15 %. After Titan ... 50%. And please do not tell me supply issues because these companies know what the demand for their products are they have economists that do that math months before a card is ordered from the silicon providers they know how many units to expect to sell.

The 295X2 will already whip this thing in gaming, that's for sure. If you do the math, the TitanZ compute performance tells us that the cores are at roughly 700 MHz each, compared to the 295X2 that runs both cores at 1000. The 290X and 780 Ti are pretty neck and neck in Performance at same clocks, so it's easy to see the 295X2 will be about 30% faster on average than the Titan Z in gaming.

But I think they went beyond logic now. Even this forum's most rich customers start ridiculing it.

780 was decently priced for the era. Then (or before it, anyway) you got the Titan for much more which wasn't deserving it but ok, it was just a few hundred more, not a thousand. It got too far. It will fail.

The problem is that the Titan was completely new. You couldn't get a product like it without paying that price so some people were prepared to drop that money for it, this only fits into a small niche (Needs Titan SLI performance on an ITX board) because if you don't need 6GB of vRAM, you can get the same or better performance with two much cheaper GTX 780Tis. If you need the RAM, Titans and it's still cheaper. If you need FP64..Once again, Titan and niche.

People are only hating the Titan Z bcoz they cant afford it.. Haters gonna hate. BTW the best doesn't come cheap, just like a sports car.

I could afford it, however for $3000 I could also buy two GTX 780Tis, an new guitar and some effects pedals for it. Guess which would end up being far more value for money? I don't feel like paying $1000 extra (If you compare it to two Titans) for a name and the ability to have it use a single slot in my full ATX case.

It's a niche product at best, idiotic for nearly all other uses. If you're truly wondering why people get annoyed with these kinds of cards..well, look at the prices of GPUs: $400-$500 for the highest end back in the GeForce 6 series, $600 for the 7 series, stable apart from GX2/2 GPU cards for a few years and then up to $1000 with the Titan and now $3k with this..No-one should want this to be normal, especially when a multi-GPU card was typically the $1k one.

Even if any did get the Titan, it'd be due to having a fully enabled GK110 GPU for $1000...The Titan would still be better value than this unless they absolutely need to fill a PC up with GPUs and even then, if I wanted to use GeForces for that use I'd still just get some PCIe Risers to fit normal Titans on it since you're already going cheap.

Oh- I am not thinking of buying it to cause people to hate me: I am buying it to make a point: All of those out there screaming "Boycott" and "Gouging!" and the Team Read guys coming in and bashing away at the people who are looking at getting this as much as the cards themselves are the ones out of touch.

Look: its tech. High Priced? Yes. Overpriced? Without a doubt: never said otherwise. Performance compared to SLI's Titans? Probably - remember, no one has had one benched yet, so we just don't know - not equal to a Pair of Titan Blacks, not to mention the pair of OG Titans with custom BIOS's that I have running now. But in the end, its tech, and pretty awesome tech at that. They got two full up - not gimped core count wise from what I see - 110's procs on a single slab of PCB. With 12 gigs of VRAM. Anyway you dice it, thats pretty awesome. With some of the folks saying there is hardware/software to enable it to function as one massive GPU under certain circumstances (Although I don't think this is true myself) it gets even better.

It my money, and its the money of anyone else who buys one of these, to do with as I - and they - please with. I can buy this car, that card, the fancy watch and the house in the rockies. It doesn't matter what it is because it is mine to do with as I please. For those others to say what I can and can't do with my money is just plain wrong. No one needs anyone else's approval but their own - based off of if they can truly afford it - to spend as they please. If they don't like it, don't believe its as good as they say or that somehow - with that persons vast knowledge of economics which was no doubt picked up in the very best schools in the world - be bad for everyone, vote with your cash: don't buy it.

But don't go around calling those that do idiots, jerks, and worse. Be glad there are people like us: we are the ones driving the tech forward because we are willing to pay the stupid amounts needed to force these companies to develop bigger and better cards just to get our cash. For every Titan, Zed or otherwise, For every R9 295, thats a piece of tech that is going to trickle down and make the next gen all the better, be it lower cost or performance. Because the market isn't all that big for the 600 buck or more cards: thats tiny. The big bucks are in the 200 buck range. Volume trumps price, and always has. These companies, Red and Green Team, do it all the time: they take last gen hardware, put in bottom tier cards of the current gen, at good prices. We all win. I get the brute horsepower I want, others get the value that they want.

Whats wrong with that?
