EDIT: ($3350) Forced to spend 2800 on PC!! - Page 5

based on the fact you already have a 24" 1080p monitor I went best bang for the buck and left the monitor situation alone. I selected an lga 2011 build with a total of 16gb of 2133 g skill ares ram, a coolermaster v850 gold psu, twin powercolor radeon r9 290s that will unlock to the r9 290x setup which means blasted amounts of overkill plus a sound card by asus that puts you up into the 28xx range. I also included win 7 pro

I like the idea of keeping my 1080p monitor. It is relativley new and was like 300$. Does the 2011 model MOBO selection have a model with the sound card built in?

Also, Why the Radeons? Im just asking so I see why one over the other.

Lastly, I just need one mechanical drive, I already have two ssd's and a copy of windows, so that an extra 200$ that can be reconfigured.

Thanks

The r9 290s have 4gb of vram and will crossfire will absolutely eat games for breakfast. Plus they are powercolor brand which are shown to unlock to full r9 290x cards. The board does include onboard sound but the soundcard is a ton better then the onboard. With socket 2011 you need quad channel ram. Yea we could cut the second 2tb and use onboard sound. Id have to look to see if we could up the ram

you will not need to buy a soundcard unless you pick out crap a motherboard, ANY MB worth its salt will have a sound card you will be happy with. if you do decide to go with 2+ GPUs consider 1440P or a triple monitor setup. might as well use that extra VRAM

Yea, I have seen many of the nicer models with soundcards, like the Asus Hero. I am also aware there is a new 780 ti 6g coming out:) Do you think I will benefit from that on a single 1440p. How much more of an impact will it have on a 3 monitor setup?
The 3gb model should be good for 1440p, but greater than that like 3x 1080p or so would benefit from more memory.

I have updated the parts list in accordance with not needing 2 mechanical drives and also not needing windows 7 or the sound card. so ive upped the ram to 32gb, modified out the optical drive to the most expensive Blu-ray burner drive you can buy, and added 2 more cooler master blade master 120mm fans and a fan controller. this way you can run a push pull setup on the seidon 240m radiator. its not quite 2800 but almost there. if you buy a copy of Microsoft office 2010 you can get it up to the 2800 amount. again, the r9 290 graphics cards are absolute beasts and will fully unlock to the r9 290x cards as the powercolors all unlock. this will give you the highest graphics performance you will get for 2 cards. if you like my suggestions or have other concerns feel free to hit me back with the info.

I have an ASUS CHV-Z it has this "supreme FX" soundcard tbh it sounds exactly the same as the soundcard on my Sabertooth 990FX.

the higher the resolution you have the more VRAM that you will need. The 6GB models are more for 4K gaming. you will probably be fine with 2 way CF/SLI and 3-4GB VRAM per card.

Only first batches from certain vendors unlocked. There aren't any 290s that I'm aware of that unlock now since the market is now innundated by lasered off batches

If you do get 290's, suggest you get a pair of these to quiet them down:
