Gods damn it Oculus. You had so many millions in VC and and you sell out to Facebook? Why?
I am going to hope and trust that this is what Palmer agreed to. I don't see him willingly giving up his dream for millions before CV1, and he best spend this money ASAP on getting access to custom parts *cough*panels*cough* and getting eye-tracking and foveated rendering nice and quickly.
I'll withhold judgement until I see exactly what powers Oculus traded for this, but this announcement killed my hype in one fell swoop.
P.S. Zuckerburg, assuming you are just providing lots of funding, you better not stick a Fb logo anywhere on the Rift.
1) Millions in VC vs $2bn from Facebook. Your argument falls flats on its face there.
2) The VCs probably had considerable influence in the decision to sell. VCs aren't there just to help companies get started. They're in it to make money. Acquisition by a huge company is the jackpot.
