New SSD - some questions

Just got a Samsung Evo 1TB!

Got a couple of questions!

1. Is it "ok" to run Intel Rapid Storage Technology, and also use Samsung Magician to tune the drive up? Will the two programs conflict? Or, if I'm already using IRST (or Windows 7), are the Samsung Magician optimizations redundant?
2. Does Rapid Mode create possible issues for gaming, aside from its use of system RAM?

Oh, and one more:

3. Is it a bad idea to benchmark often (HDTune, CrystalDiskMark) - does it cause "wear and tear" or otherwise reduce the drive's lifespan to a non-negligible extent?

I swear that I searched for (credible) answers here and elsewhere, and didn't find them. Thanks for any help.

IRST and Magician won't interfere with each other and I definitely recommend you install both.

I've never heard of any issues with RAPID mode, I've been using it for months without issue so I think you'll be fine.

Benchmarking has negligible effect on longevity, obviously anything you do will reduce life span but the amount of data being written is so small.

Edit: I'm also ridiculously jealous, 1TB of SSD goodness. tongue.gif

Thanks very much for help! +1 intangible rep.

I ran into some FUD while I was reading up on SSD-related matters, so I thought I'd come here and try to get some straight answers.

I actually wasn't looking for a 1TB SSD - had been planning on getting a 2TB Western Digital Black - but I saw some prices on NewEgg and couldn't believe how affordable SSDs had become. A bit of an impulse buy, but I don't regret it. Now I can play the first round of Rush in BF4 (among other things)!
