Need some help on how to flash my XFX 7970 bios

I've tried all other forums, and I've yet to get a reply, or anyone that isnt stumped. My XFX 7970 DD version is the
FX-797A-TD FX-797A-TDB V5.0
I have never flashed a bios in my life, and all I know is that it can end pretty badly sometimes, but is recoverable. For GPU's, that is.
I have yet to find a single guide that goes into depth of how you ACTUALLY flash the bios. Every guide I've seen just says how you need to download these files, put them on a USB drive and do some magic things in DOS. Yeah, not really helpful. The only reason I want to flash my GPU's bios is because this version of the XFX, is locked on just about all overclocking options. I'm not too worried about its performance in games. It does fine in games. I'm talking about crypto mining. It mines at an average 300 KH/s currently, and when flashed and overclocked it goes to at least 700-750 KH/s. Can anyone give me a quick rundown of how I can do this?

1. You need a bootable disc/USB drive to boot into command line
2. You need ATIFlash on the drive
3. You need to be comfortable with using command line

If you're not that comfortable in an environment that has no GUI then you can also use ATIWinfFlash

All guides are pretty much identical, one you do directly in command line with no GUI and the other you can do in Windows. The preferable way is with no GUI.

Wow, ATIwinflash actually seems pretty simple. I'd do it, but my only concern is what happens if I brick the card with a bad/incompatible bios? I have another old GTX 560 that I can use that still works great, could pop in that and reset the bios on the XFX with my backup from GPU-Z. But, how would I even go about doing that? Doesn't make much sense to somehow have the bricked 7970 in my first slot, and be able to have a completely different platform in the second and be able to do that. I'm most likely wrong on that guess though, so I'd need help with that. Also, I would have to use the GTX because my 7970 doesn't have a bios switch.
