Bitfenix Shinobi XL Watercooling Project

The following pictures depict my progressive journey for the past 6 months. The last few in this post is where my build currently stands. I still plan on adding a few blocks to the motherboard amongst other mods thumb.gif

Old case (HAF 922)

Shinobi XL

Stripped

Removed the small tabs on the bottom of the front panel to allow airflow for the radiator

Also removed the small tabs inside of the vent strips

Took care of those "supporting brackets" on the top panel tongue.gif

Installed the copper plate to mount the SSD's and finished it off with some Di-Noc

Decided to spice up the top panel as well!

Swapped out the 6950 for a GTX 770 and decided on the white/back theme

Eventually returned the 770 and picked up a 7990. Also picked up a Xonar STX

Sold the H100 and my buddy lent me his old H80i. Picked up a second SSD as well

Took out my old lapped 8350 and put in the 9590

At this point I finally decided it was time to place my order for the watercooling parts!

Uho! I ordered the wrong 7990 block! mad.gif That's alright, no biggie. So for a few weeks it was just the CPU loop:

Along with the correct 7990 waterbock I also ordered a universal block by Koolance for my VRM's. Went down to the local muffler shop and had a friend of mine drill a few holes into the heat transfer plate so it would line up with the stock standoffs

Separated the VRM and NB heatsinks

Hmm, this looks a bit better smile.gif

Where the build currently stands

Will update with continued progress!!

Thanks bud! I've done some upgrades since my last post, I'll have to update. For the VRM's I used this block:

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_971_401_597&products_id=24498

With this heat transfer plate

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_971_401_597&products_id=23423

The heat transfer plate needs two holes drilled on adjacent corners to match up with the stock standoffs. I went down to a local exhaust shop and they offered to do it for 10$ thumb.gif

The NB/SB blocks:

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_971_241_591&products_id=23414

The SB block bolts right up but the NB block requires some filing near the PCI slot, or if you feel comfortable with a tight fit you can get it to work.
