They are good for prbuilt stuff like dell.acer.gateway.ibm. but just remember tge power suppky the most important part if ur pc. So if spending a lil more mean u beed to safe.. then 8 would for fir somthing that will last.

Honestly though, this is a pretty common deal, and a pretty garbage deal overall, especially when the XFX 550w 80+ Bronze is going for $26 AR too at TigerDirect (link).

Yah and xfx psu are good . And fir 6 $ more u get a better deal and for the looks its better to.

They just are not as good as the model it replaced. But still. At $20 this is fine for low end builds.

The biggest reason is Corsair warranty.

Price is only one part of the equation though, for $50-60 you can usually get something much better like the Rosewill Capstone 450 or 550 or XFX XFX TS 550W.

one that doesnt have anything fancy done to it. (no OC, no mods, no extra fans, no highend parts, etc etc)

This deal comes around pretty frequently, although I could pick up a spare. Thanks OP.

Obviously I would recommend you spend extra if you a building a gaming/overclocking rig and pick up something better but this is perfect for a cheap, low power office rig.

Agreed with all of these, not sure where all the misinformation and hate came from. Been using a CX500 in a Overclocked Gaming machine for a year and half now, no "fire hazards" or poor performance to speak of whatsoever.

That thread should be taking with a grain of salt as there is no actual proof to back it up as countless review sites have given them pretty good review. Unlike the one opinion of a single member.

Yep must be a lower end system and must not be into overclocking much or at all.. I dear u to put it on something like a fx8350/i7 4770 and put a overclock on it abd run prime 95 for a few hrs.. pls tell use what happen when u do.

Anyway I have a friend with a apu with a gtx550ti and everytime he overclock close to 3.4 it would freeze .. well lets just say he had ti buy a new motherboard. And a powersupply

I've actually ran a GTX 480 and a 4.7GHz 760K on one of these... Handled it just fine, though I swapped it out pretty quickly because there was something better available.

Issues with PSUs are one of those things that are blown out of proportion on enthusiast forums. 20 bucks is a good price for this and it'll work perfectly in low budget builds. You're more likely to have a blown mosfet on your board or GPU than have anything happen to this PSU...
