AVX? I'm guessing it's due to new instruction sets, things that generally make a CPU faster without increasing speed/IPC.

That FMA3 looked more promising...though AMD's had that for a while, but if Dolphin uses the Intel compiler without tweaks it might not get utilized on AMD CPUs.

Though there was some actual architecture changes in the 4770K as well that might have had an effect, too. I haven't had my hands on one yet to fully play with it. (heh, I am too cheap to upgrade my own stuff, but I built a lot of stuff for other people)

Ahh, similar idea. Didn't think about changing architecture for current instruction sets. Guess I figured they should have most of that down by now though I believe Dolphin does support AVX which would make things a bit faster. I'm unsure about FMA3 but if AMD has had that it is probably in there now. FMA3 and AVX together might have made a difference, idk, haven't had Linux in a while to really see what some of these new features do compared to my old PHII. =S I'm on FF with an AVX build, it's "built for Intel" but I think it runs smoother than the official without some of these flags.

Though I run it because they are using more aggressive flags for stuff, which at least to me feels faster. That and it seems FF has cut it's memory management down a bit more. Not that my 8GB of ram was hurting with Chrome but in the day and age where games are getting beefier everything could help. Either way, the new chips are a % faster too so that has to be taken into account. Every small gain makes a world of a difference in emulation.

AVX was in Sandy/Ivy though, so it must be FMA3 and AVX2.

Yeah prob AVX2, dang almost makes me wanna go Intel but I'm cheap and poor. They go hand in hand usually.

cheap and poor doesn't mean you can't go to Intel, I'm the same boat but still managed. all the parts I have are very well used. biggrin.gif

Yeah but when I started my rig, it was all an AMD setup. PHII, years ago (X2 unlocked to an X4 can't beat that), then I went with an AM3+ mobo and waiting for the FX pricing to drop. Once it dropped, my upgrade was complete. =P I doubt I could find a system like this for as cheap. Considering everything was purchased at a specific time for upgrading. Though I ended up spending a bit more, cause the GA-990FXA-UD3 R4.0 hit and I jumped on it. Great board, got me up to 4.7 but cooling is keeping me from 4.8+ =( =( Maybe some day.

Honestly after seeing how far Dolphin has came I'm really happy that someone got an Xbox 360 one to at least run. I've always been a huge fan of emulators and Halo 3 and forza on PC with an increased internal resolution gives me goosebumps. Xbox 360 games with 2x MSAA on 1440p... PLEASE thumb.giftongue.gif

Personally I'm not convinced this is real considering it doesn't even show it running on a desktop. Anyone can make a video to make it look buggy like a crude emulator and post it on reddit / youtube.

For all you know this is a screen capture of a RROD xbox as I'v had xbox 360's do weird things before they kick the bucket. In MW2 the heartbeat sensor spanned across my entire screen outside of the box on the gun effectively revealing the entire enemy team to me then a couple hours later my Xbox was dead.
