See that's the thing I don't get. ND has built their reputation(nowadays) around story and great visuals(For the hardware). A minimal effort port of 1080p, 60FPS, some AA and texture upscaling would be shooting themselves in the foot.
Yet it would still require them to do large scale rewrites of the engine. Simply because the PS3 engine operates vastly different than engines on the PS4. I can't find the article, but IIRC ND had plucked a good portion of their talent and put them on UC4 for the PS4, at least a year ago.
I would imagine, the first major step would be to create a PS4 engine. UC4 will probably need more time because of asset creation but, if the team working on the PS4 engine were able to give the asset file structure ahead of time; then the LOU team would be able to start porting/creating/recreate LOU assets for the PS4.
Essentially, LOU on the PS4 would have a much shorter development timetable. I just don't see a reason for ND, in particular, to do a half-ass port; when they are already working on a PS4 game.
I still want them to buy back the Crash Bandicoot franchise.
