S8 Pedestal internal dimensions?

Thread Starter
I would like to know the *internal* dimensions of the S8 Pedestal if they are available, particularly the height please.

I am contemplating stripping the covers from an APC SMT1000I UPS and seeing if I can get it inside the Pedestal. I know that as it is at the moment, the UPS would only fit inside the ped on its side but there is a lot of air in the SMT1000I since it shares the case with the SMT1500I with its larger batteries.

Here are the approximate internal dimensions of the S8 pedestal:

Height: 7.53"
Length: 18.44"
Width: 13.56" (to the frame flange) 14.42" (to the covers)

Thank you.

My next step will be to look at the internals of the UPS and see how it is put together to see if I can fit it upright in that space and how its front panel and rear sockets will fit with the pedestal.

Ah well, it was a nice idea but is a no go without serious modding.

In its casing the UPS is 8.5" high when upright. Of course a little bit would go from removing the rubber feet but the large transformer sat on the bottom of the UPS frame and the circuit board made up the roof. While there was space between the two, it was filled with lots of mains voltage components and heavy wiring.

There was a ton of empty space above the batteries and the front display panel is only attached by a little ribbon cable but unfortunately the whole rear panel is steel and holds the mains in and outlets, the serial and USB ports.Serious modding of the rear of the pedestal would be needed to support the parts of the rear panel that were to be retained.
