FX-8350 OC/Stock + HIS 7970 OC/Stock at 1440p/1080p DX11/DX9 Benchmarks

Hello there,

I decided to do some benchmark tests using Unigine Valley v1.0 tool to test the capabilities of the FX-8350 & the HIS 7970 IceQ X2.

The tests are divided into two main categories: DirectX11 and DirextX9 tests at both 1440p and 1080p. I have made these tests mainly to see the difference in gaming when the CPU is overclocked vs. the stock clock (out of curiosity). I also made it for those planning to buy these two parts.
Something to keep in mind though: The minimum frame rates are not realistic (please ignore them). For some reason, Valley Unigine gives low minimum fps values, which do not appear throughout the entire benchmarking tests except in a millisecond or so before the beginning of some scenes. Also, Unigine Valley favors Nvidia cards so far (Something similar to the chemistry between BF4 and AMD CPU/GPU), but hopefully that will change in the next version.

First, I'll start with my system specs:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
CPU: AMD FX-8350 4GHz 8-Core.
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 240M 86.2 CFM Liquid.
GPU: AMD HIS 7970 IceQ X2.
Motherboard: Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z.
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 (CL9: 9-10-9-28).
Case: Cooler Master Storm Stryker.
Power Supply: Rosewill Lightning 1000W 80 PLUS GOLD.
Monitor: QNIX QX2710 1440p 27".
Keyboard: ROCCAT ISKU.
Mouse: Perixx MX-2000B.

GPU driver version: 14.3 BETA.

*All my taskbar programs were open during the test, with the exception of my anti-virus and firewall programs being on game mode.

Alright, now to the tests:

TEST 1/2 with the CPU at 4GHz (Stock)

TEST 2/2 with the CPU at 4.51GHz (Overclocked)

As you can see, Valley Unigine gets almost no benefits from overclocking the CPU.

After running the tests, I realized I should've chosen another benchmarking tool, since Unigine Valley isn't a tool people use to relate to.

You can find the scores for each test including everything related to them here (52MB): http://www.mediafire.com/download/3whi5jrxcv15efz/Unigine_Valley_FX-8350_&_HIS_7970.zip

I will be adding more benchmarks in the future (in separate posts) but of games instead of benchmarking tools.

So I managed to push my CPU even further and overclocked it to 4.83GHz stable (mixed both FSB and multiplier)..

Sorry I forgot to add the single core benchmark, but from what I remember it was 122pts at the first benchmark run shown in brown.
