I shouldn't really be OCing, I shouldn't even have to.

I agreed with damric, is just false advertising and unfair business practices by big corporations to sells more of their products.

Right now i've been getting the advertised speed of 2133mhz with increased DRAM voltage of 1.6v. So far there hasn't been any hiccup. But thats what I said before with 1.57v and it crash few hours later. We'll see how this goes. Need to do more rigorous testing to see if I can get 100% stable.

Let me know how it goes, and if you want to really go in depth with this, I can assist you.

I thought supplied voltages were Jedec, and anything over 1600MHz would need more voltage?

You're right. Anything faster than 1600CL11 (the latest jedec) isn't guaranteed to work at 1.5v or less. Of course with a little tuning we can go a lot faster. but mobo advertisers don't tell you that you might need to make an account over at overclock.net and spend 20 hours researching, and another few days tuning and testing to get it stable that fast.

Example: my ASRock board says it can run sticks up to 2600 with an OC, but the highest multiplier is 2400, so you would need to increase Base Clock which raises PCI speed. But to do that you need to disable just about anything useful.

SO now I'm curious, the OP is getting 2133MHz @ 1.6V, but what is the CL at? At the very least, I'd think that you'd have to up CL to 12 or 13 if not showing stable in 8 to 14 hours on Prime95. That is if your target is 24hrs of Prime95 to be happy about stability?

2x8GB RAM on a standard 1866MHz platform
The RAM kit and motherboard being used mean he is overclocking to reach 2133MHz.

He is using 2x8GB sticks, which stress the IMC even further.

All the OP needs to do is increase the CPU/NB voltage, along with raise RAM voltage to the XMP rate the sticks come with. Using CPUz with the SPD tab will tell you the correct values.

I'm currently running 2133mhz at tested timings of 11-11-11-30 @ 1.6v. Those timings are default timings when you enable XMP profile. I check my memory site and check the specifications these are what they recommended.

Capacity: 16GB (2 x 8GB) Kit
Tested Frequency: PC3-17000 (2133MHz)
Tested Timings: 11-11-11-30
Base Frequency: PC3-12800 (1600MHz)
Base Timings: 9-9-9-24

So i'm going by that. Not sure if I have to up CL to 12 like you said, but I might have to if I want it to be stable. Getting the stable timings without crashes is what i'm going after. Tbh if I have to up CL to 13-14 not gonna bother with it lol. Not worth sacrifcing CL over frequency. Bad tradeoff. This is APU build so i'm trying to get the best performance out of my ram I can possibly get without compromising performance, as it does not have a discrete GPU to relied on. Although i'll be adding a GPU further down the road to take advantage of the Dual Graphics technology. Although even then i'll only be seeing 5-10% performance increase in gaming.

Crank it to 1.65V and see if it will boot at 2400 thumb.gif

I suppose you could run memtest to check for ram stability.
