Need help buying a new MoBo to be compatible with GPU

I have the FX6860-ur21p Desktop. Right now it came with the Acer IPISP-VR Rev. 1.01 mobo, the stock GPU it came with quit on me which was the Radeon HD 7770. Got a GTX 280 and its working fine just not happy with it. So i went out and bought the GTX 760 and the computer wouldn't get past the startup screen it would just freeze. Thought it was my PSU so i bought a 650W and still the same. So I thought bad card so i bought the XFX 260x and that one wouldn't even get to the startup screen just a black screen no activity light at all, which the HD 7770 card did when it died. So i either got two bad cards in a row, a bad PSU or my mobo just doesn't support the high newer end cards.

Id like to just buy a good better mobo if its possible but i have no clue what to look for when buying one so im asking the experts here.

Right now i have the

Intel Core i7-3770 3.4GHz

64 bit Quad-Core Processor

Intel H67

LGA 1155

better yet this one from newegg.

Please help me choose the right mobo maybe a little more faster/better then the one i have that supports my new GPU's.

Thanks

BTW i didn't know where to post this. Sorry.

Your link doesn't work. You can go with older Z68 boards and get them on eBay or buy the newer Z77 boards. What kind of 650W PSU did you buy? You would've been better off if you asked for help first. Have you tried flashing the board you have with the newest bios?

Yeah I did update my bios. There is only two updates for it on gateway website the one I did was for devices with ivy bridge and usb3.0 support, the other was for windows 8 not for upgrades. Which I don't have so I didn't do that one, or should I have?

My PSU is A Thermaltake 650w.

Have you tried clearing the bios settings and attempting to boot with your GTX 280? How about updating the videocard's bios? You try that yet? Try testing your cards to rule them out as the problem. Try it on a friends PC or something. Test your components individually to rule them out.

Yes have cleared the CMOS, don't know how to update the GPU bios. Sad to say i don't have any friends who are into gaming so their computers won't support the video cards.

The GTX 280 is what im using now and it works fine. Its the GTX 760 that at least got to the startup screen but nothing as it froze.

Someone suggested for me to get the R9 270X Gaming gpu as it has a DIM switch that i can change. But being that i have some cash on me i wouldn't mind just upgrading my mobo anyways.

So all i have to do if find a mobo that uses the LGA 1155 and what other components that i want huh? The PC now is a gaming PC so i don't have to worry about size right as the one i am lookin at is a ATX.

This is my PC
