[Tutorial] Starting fresh with Origin: you don't have to redownload your games! - Page 4

I've reinstalled 3 times in the last week, and I've found that simply cut+paste the Origin Games folder outside of your drive, then format, then cut and paste it back into the same location, and making sure that Origin's directories in the settings point to that location, everything is all good. Just double click on the game in Origin, and it will automatically validate the game, and download any updates (if any). I haven't had to redownload any of the DLC's for BF4 either.

alot of good info is propogating in here!

I have removed origin ( and registry entries ) and again unable to launch maps after re-install and repointing to my 480GB again. Since I had saved the installers, I went ahead and moved origin ( and steam ) to the same SSD the games are on.

Hopefully in the future reformatting my boot drive is going to be as easy and twocables outlined in the OP.

SpartanVXl put up some good info that should help to make sure the registry is pointing to the proper place, but at this point I dont want to do any more unessisary writes to my SSD's.

I bid you all farewell until next time my Wife decides to "just use" my computer. rolleyes.gif

TwoCables, is there a way to know if all dependencies have been installed? Will Origin handle that by itself?

(Maybe that's what you mean when you say - Open Origin, go to My Games, click that game, and click "Download". It might download something first for about 30-60 seconds)

I somehow messed up DirectX installs in the past from backing up copies of Steam games and copying them back instead of downloading them from scratch.

lol Yeah, some people are just not computer-friendly.

She is computer destructive. I dont get it. she brings her flash drive from the library in frustration, because the library computer was ( seemingly ) all virused out and unresponsive, and plugs it into my computer.....

I ran AVG to see what the hell happened, and immediately AVG found like 300 threats. I yelled aimlessly for like 12 seconds, and then reformatted. This time I'm using a password.

She can have her own computer back as soon as she dished out the $ for a new HDD.
