H80i or Enermax ELC240?

Hi all

Im having some trouble with deciding which closed loop water cooling option to go for i liked the look of the Corsair H80i but then saw the Enermax ELC240 for around the same price but the Enermax ELC240 dosent seem to be built very well im struggling to find benchmarks on the Enermax ELC240 and weather the H80i performs better and not to bother with the Enermax ELC240.

I would think a 240 rad would out perfrom a 120 but i could be wrong?

Thanks.

There are no direct comparisons between the two, but using the H100 as a middle point we can make comparisons.

Hexus tell us in their review that the ELC240 is slightly worse in terms of noise and cooling ability than the old Corsair H100, mainly due to Enermax using their 'Batwing' bladed fans, which are slightly worse in terms of static pressure than the standard Delta based 7 blade fans Corsair use.

The H100 is similar to the H80i in the Bit-Tech review, so this would suggest that the H80i is indeed better than the ELC240, if anything down to Corsair using their SP fans on the double thickness radiator.

Overall: Get the H80i if you plan on using stock fans, due also to Corsair's very good warranty system. Get the ELC if you plan on running four fans push/pull, as that would, in theory, edge it above the H80i.

Luke
