Is The Celeron 847 (Intel NUC) OK For HD Playback and XBMC Fanart?

I'm looking at the Intel NUC with the Celeron 847 processor (DCCP847DYE) as a contender for my media centre on my boat, which will be powered by 12v/inverter/transformer. Here in Thailand it's a lot cheaper than the DC3217IYE.

What I'd like to know is how well the Celeron 847 would handle XBMC and its fan art menu system, and 1080 HD playback. Since I've been using a Samsung NC10 netbook with an Atom processor I suspect anything would be an improvement, but I'm trying to balance performance with power consumption. On paper the DCCP847DYE looks the ticket but I've no experience with the Celeron 847.

Appreciate any thoughts and/or personal experiences, either with the processor or the DCCP847DYE.

Cheers.

Are you playing 10 bit 1080p? (essentially just anime)

If not, you'll be fine. I've tested the proc at work and it handles normal 1080p great.

How resource intensive is the fan art stuff?

I dunno, I have no idea. I guess we're talking about the ability to skip through jpgs sized 500kb or less. It's not a deal-breaker but I don't want to end up with a laggy experience (pressing the forward button to view the poster/info of the next film and having to wait 5 seconds for it to load). I can't imagine it would be like this anyway.

Ironically skipping through poster art was never important to me but having got used to XBMC and all the pre-show stuff it offers, I now see the value in being able to scour through TV programme info. Having to restrict myself to an XBMC text-only menu system would not be acceptable.

I just got one last week, installed 2GB of RAM and a mSATA SSD and the thing does great under openELEC . No slowdown what so ever. Now I am just waiting for my FLiRC to get here and will be all done.
