Thats the whole point of what everyone is saying.

The big ISP's want the Netflix, Netsports and other web content like FB,Youtube to pay them to serve consistently and with preference .. and yes this is happening. Which means something has to suffer.. that is a traffic type rather than an IP. So that traffic type is called P2P and it also goes in favour of the movie industry as they hate torrents. If Valve move to http traffic there wouldn’t be a problem but they haven’t and wont, so as time goes on, big game downloads are going to see heavy traffic shaping as mom and dad's broadcast (and indeed from a governmental new delivery & propaganda point of view) will take traffic president over what they consider to be 'little jimmies videos games traffic'

its an unstoppable train that a lot of people are going to suffer from and Microsoft's clear admission last year from their (ex) top PR guy says it all.. your just going to have to #dealwithit

wow that is appalling.

up until a few days ago i was on 80mb, but this dropped through traffic management to roughly 30mb on most days, sometimes lower. The infrastructure cant keep up with the growth due to company bureaucracies and monopolies.

Well, I've had steam a very long time. I was on 5 Mb/s for a long time. When I downloaded a game it took a long time. However, I learned that I can do OTHER stuff than watch the progress bar. Like, play other games or go somewhere or whatever. I don't have to play the game right this minute. It would be cool. But not that important

8mdit? god some people have it lucky. in the uk, my isp says i should get 10. i get less than 1.

A steam isn't P2P else i wouldn't be able to download at all, B an ISP can and most (If they aren't ring them up and contact the board of better companies berueo or whatever it is in america land) do sustain what you pay for, When i was using 100/40 with Westnet(iinet group australia) I would download 40-90GB files constantly at 11.4megabyte/second

Even now on 2.2mbit ADSL i still get a sustained transfer speed at close to the peak of what i can do wich is like 230KB/second

I've been diskless for years now, I only had access to 100/40 for 3 months, It's ENTIRELY possible to go diskless.

and i didn’t say you couldn’t sustain, its down to the ISP.. which is what i said a few times.
