[HCW] Vortex KBT Race II Mechanical Keyboard Review - Page 2

Aside from some of my LEDs dying off, the build quality has been satisfying. After 2 years of usage, some of the keys (mainly W, A, S, D, L) have started to fade/wear out a little, but that's kind of expected with these keycaps. I mostly keep it in my desk at home, but I do bring it to school some days and it's held up very well.

The KBT Race is purely keys (no empty space like Ducky or Filco), so it's hard to compare them. I think if you're used to more sturdier keyboards, you may not be as happy with the Race as the reviewer did mention the PCB mounting may feel mushy/crappy when bottoming out. This is my first mech keyboard, so I'm impartial to that feeling, but I have felt other keyboards from friends so I can tell the difference.

Edit: Let me add that the Race is very light. It will slightly flex if you bend or twist it around. The weight is much lighter than many TKL boards and this may determine if you like it or not.

I love my keyboard, but fair warning.. they gave us hell and back for our group buy! They kept delaying our order, and I believe it was to fulfill everyone elses orders (even though we pre-ordered).

Not only that they tried to change the order of keycaps to a more cheap version on our group buy...

I am extremely happy with the product, and regardless of what happened I will still recommend them to anyone.

I bought mine off a Chinese reseller, so I was lucky enough to bypass all the group buy heartache in GeekHack. thumb.gif

Yeah it's very nice if you want to bring it to school/work and the size allows you to fit it in smaller backpacks as well. biggrin.gif

look kinda the same with the RACE 1, I love 75%, they have all the fuction a 80% has but in a smaller form, but the layout of RACE is what make me sell it after nearly a year use :/ If they could make a "more standard" layout version (like the MX-Mini for example) then it would be an insta-buy from me

Is there anywhere inside EU I can order this from?

Why does anyone need a dedicated row of F-function keys? Place those seldom used keys on a tertiary layer at best. Save all that extra room on your working desktop for more important things than superfluous keys, things like Zen-space. smile.gif
