Sound issues

Thread Starter
I have windows 8 and asus crosshair v formula-z Motherboard and Gigabyte GTX770 OC Rev.2 4GB PCI Express Nvidia Graphics Card

Plus and Sumsung SSD EVO 500GB HD - Corsair Memory Vengeance Pro Series Blue 16GB DDR3 1866 MHz -

CREATIVE Sound Blaster Z PCI Express Sound Card - Corsair CP-9020061-UK CXM Builder series 750W Hybrid Modular Power Supply.

I have some serious issues when playing simple audio via WMP or VLC player sometime i can play Audio for a while before the problem starts and it seems the longer i have music playing the worse it gets, as time goes on.

What happens is every so often, for no longer than about a second, the Audio seems to buzz/vibrate/stutter like a power surge(very difficult to explain exactly the right problem.

I have tried all sorts and cannot get to the bottom of this, i have downloaded LatencyMon but don't really understand it.

Can anyone please help, it's driving me insane.

Thanks

Did you disable the motherboard's (SupremeFX III) on-board audio. in the BIOS.
Sometimes on-board audio cause problems with the add-on sound card (SB-Z).

Might try changing the SB-Z to a different slot.
Something farthest from the graphics card and power supply.

Might be a defective SB-Z sound card (maybe?).

Thanks for the quick reply, i should have said i had these problems before i put the sound card in aswell, this is what is baffling me so much now. I am at a total loss.

I have tried a different Graphics Card to a Radeon and still it did it, it did it with a ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Board.

I also have a AMD FX 9590 Black Edition 8 Core. I have also put in a Network Card as i read somewhere that onboard LAN drivers could be an issue, it does it with and without.

I really have know idea how to rectify it. Could it be the PSU ?? I mean i don't know what else i can swap out or try??

Does seem like the power supply could be causing the issue.
Might try moving the power cables to different outputs on the power supply.
Or using more power cables so the work load is spread over more power rails.
(rails are on the inside of the power supply)
Some power supplies only have one rail, not sure how many yours has, hopefully has at least two.

Does the problem appear only when playing audio tracks (no video) with the aforementioned players?

First step I would do is replace your players and codecs.
Foobar for music
CCCP+MPC for video

I also get it playing Music through you tube. As if it the PC freezes for a split second and the Audio stutters at that point.

Should i uninstall WMP and VLC Players?

EDIT - Installed those and i still have this same issue.
