Ok so for my high school A-level project for my product design course everyone was building lamps and crap like that so i decided to build a pc!

A little view of the final product

I narrowed it down to solve the problem of watercooled pc's tend to be very large (Not all) and pretty ugly in terms of just a singe box, also with all of them you have the buy the reservoir separately so why not incorporate it? Most tend to be geared up for Atx mobo's so mine is for my new Mini-Itx Asus Impact mobo

Therefore i have planned to make a watercooled pc that is smallish, looks good, and has a reservoir built into it!

I went through my mind and came up with some renderings on my pc and decided to start building it!

All the components are mounted on one face and they are all housed within, their own individual boxes (Pipes with run between them for the cooling)
The res is the center sections and is a box layout that is hollow in the middle to house the hdd, ssd's and the wires to hide them away.

Created using Luxion Technology (luxion.com)
Created using Luxion Technology (luxion.com)

So i got to work planning out all the metal work that i needed, i did it all on solidworks, corral draw, and radon
I came up with these drawings and sent them to the factory to get cut out

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

These were not the final dimensions but they were similarish just a few changes here and there

They came out of the factory and i sent them to get powder coated at the local paint shop, i got them sprayed in a gloss black
They came back and im really pleased with the result!
I had some old transparent blue acrylic so i laid it on the back and wired some led's up as a little test and here are some pictures

I got the dimensions for my mobo, and decided to cut the back plate on our laser cutter and printed it on some mirrored acrylic which looks pretty sweet!
It will have a waterblock mounted on the finial product not my hype-evo cooler

This is as far as i managed to get to at the moment but i will keep you updated with the building of the reservoir

Please give me some feedback and your thoughts of my project so far thumb.gif

Thanks
James

Wow, this is gonna be good i will be following this to the end. Good Luck and Subbed!!!! thumb.gif

looks nice except the blue light (bad memories with flashy blue that annoyed me as hell)

What im worried about is loudness of it. I mean all the fans looks like they have no sound dampening. On load it will be pretty loud i bet. Custom loop i suppose will go for cpu and gpu ofc?

Wow, nice work so far!!! I'm really curios to see the final result! I feel like accessibility to the "innards" will be a huge pain, but if you're up for it, by all means, go for it! thumb.gif

The blue lights that i put in for the pictures are just some old ones that i had left from my old build, they will be dimmer and will not flash.
Also there will be no fans mounted to the metal case, they all have their own individual brackets that i will mount rubber pads on so that it will reduce vibration (hopefully)

I will be making more progress tomorrow mounting the acrylic panels to the case to house the components, the only main issue that i have thought of is dust getting into the system
Does anyone have any ideas that will try prevent it other than dust filters as i feel they will ruin the looks of the case.

At the moment i dont have enough money to get the gpu watercooled as it will be running my old gtx 580 when i finish the project so when i hopefully get my 780 or R9 290x I will be mounting a waterblock to that

But thanks for all the support so far, i really appreciate it

I have mounted (roughly) the acrylic to the psu case, i cant find a glue that gives a high strength grip to the metal/powder paint, what would you guys recommend? I have tried a 2 part epoxy and super glue, would you say some sort of clear silicone glue would work?

But anyway here are some pics of my design for the psu, the holes above the back of it are for the on and restart buttons

I have made a fair amount of progress over the past few days, managed to find a good glue for the plastic parts and im fixing all the panels to the casing.
The first sections of the reservoir have been cut out and im waiting to cut out the rest them i can start assembling it all together!

Here are some update pics

These are the side sections the the reservoir

The LED's are only laid on top they are not going to be like that for the finished product, they also look a lot brighter than they actually are!
