GTX 760 lacking firepower? - Page 2

i noticed a HUGE difference in "smoothness" when i upgraded from an AMD Phenom II 980 BE quad core (oc'd to 4.4+) to an Intel 2500k. (even @stock)

Lol that wierd because I didnt and thats me going to 4770K, I noticed a bigger difference coming from a 7850 to a 290.

Also its not your card. Its BF4, we are all on the same boat sadly.

P.S just checked the picture of CPU usage and its perfectly fine. you shouldn't expect a constant 90%+ GPU optimization, its hard to code everything perfect.

Is that a joke? You should have constant 99% GPU usage with a 760 in BF4 Multi. I did when it was paired with a 4770K

Thread Starter
Allright, so it seems like 4 cores hover at around 30- % usage, core 2 of 6 is at like 90% and cores 5 & 6 are down in the teens.

I'll take some screen shots latter tonight, you would think at lets say, 30 fps on ultra everything would be closed to maxed out, trying to render more frames

A Phenom II core @ 3.8ghz is not that fast, really only thing keeping you going this far is the fact you have six of them. Really BF4 shouldn't lag but frame rate won't always be stellar. When the game needs more single core strength your CPU just can't keep up. Which is probably why you drop down in fps during those scenarios. Other then Jumping ship for a AMD card and Mantle you should look into getting something like a i5 or i7.

Other then that try to clock your chip faster, Phenom II x6's do noticeably better in the 4.2-4.4ghz range.

GPU usage in BF4 Multi should be 99% most of the time. Unless you have something like vsync on.

Yea, CPU bottleneck
Quote:
Are you spending too much time worrying about your FPS??? You're running a 60Hz monitor. A constant 50fps would be BEST CASE SCENARIO!!!

A constant, perfect 60fps, one frame exactly every 16.67ms with mouse movement etc sampled at exactly the right time would be -ideal-

Since that never happens, you usually need like 70-80fps for best experience on a 60hz monitor (as you can have for example 70 frames in 1 second, but many of those 70 taking over 1/60'th of a second, with fast ones between them raising the average artificially) - however bf4 has some slight frametime issues, so you can improve the experience further (a bit) by going above that ~70-80 on 60hz, if you're being nitpicky

I agree with this. I use the 760 and no issues with BF4 at ultra @ 1080p. The only issues with FPS arise when bumping up the resolution scale bar past 100%
