I pretty much called this a couple months ago when all the AMD boys were saying Mantle was the greatest thing ever. Lets hope its a bug free driver!

How can you hold it against nVidia that AMD has very few titles with a clear cut advantage in their favour? Also the fact you just need a driver instead of a whole new API is a huge plus, if these things are legit.

DirectX11 can't fix the cpu overhead but I can't prove what you're missing without tech sites doing multiplayer reviews. Let's say it this way average low frametimes in BF4 are much lower leaving people with a constant 100+ rather than 60 as low.

I would like to know where the gains come from let's hope it isn't some flunky driver that just increases the boost clocks...

Woop can't wait to actually try out this, wonder how performance will be in all the games I play. Competition is good wheee.gif

Gah this torments me. fps or start menu. Decide!

Off-topic, but: part of my reluctance is a hang-over from The Old Days, when we didn't all have more than enough RAM, and freeing up space was a priority. I just assume that start menu shells for W8 take up some space...but then it doesn't really matter now, does it? I'm like someone who lived through the Depression...

On-topic: looking forward to whatever benefits this new driver/feature brings.

I'm pretty excited about this driver set as well (I don't even have an NVIDIA card), but to expect the same gains as with Mantle is incredibly unrealistic IMO, Mantle was able to deliver up to +100% gains in pretty high end systems (mGPU setups, etc).

This driver set could deliver some pretty decent gains in performance, but to expect the same gains as with a complete API re-write is not realistic at all.

Developers want anything pre Direct3D 11.x to be gone from the API space anyways. This is just a move to please consumers, not developers (as is the case with Mantle).

I call BS..I mean Nvidia posted another graph in regards to the new upcoming driver. The game was Thief, the graph made no mention of resolution and the 3930k as the CPU. In Thief @1920x1200 maxed out the game avg around 60 fps already but in their chart its shows 60 fps which isn't an improvement unless its based on a higher resolution which I doubt.
