On-topic: looking forward to whatever benefits this new driver/feature brings.

Windows 8 uses less memory than Windows 7. It's after all intended to be able to run on tablets. tongue.gif

They also made an statement saying "we expected more from AMD" or something along those lines.

They react to each other, it's not exclusive to one side.

GTX 780 and Gsync are two very recent examples where AMD had nothing on the table but Nvidia released anyway.

As for the 680, there was no other GPU ready. GK110 was not ready until fall 2012 which is when Nvidia released the workstation version.

GTX 680 probably should have been GTX 660 with 670 and 680 being GK110 variants in the fall.

Besides, if Nvidia would have released the 680 as a 660 with a $300 price tag, that would have been the worst thing they ever could have done to AMD.

Lol you mean the GK110 which had yield issues and wasn't even close to being ready was the original part meant to compete against the 7970? Cool story bro!

It would've been great for consumers though it would force AMD to quickly backtrack and disable almost all DP just like Nvidia did. Would make a killer gaming card of course that wouldn't align with their whole compute focus.

I suspect it's a fair bit of both.
