I think some people will be disappointed.. it clearly shows the areas where there's an improvement on these drivers. One is directly and only on Win8.1 as it has Tiled Resources (DX11.2). The other 4 as per the graph may be part of DX11, someone who knows could confirm that either way.

But at the end of the day, all this depends on.. to what extent do the current games even utilise these to get performance. If little to none, we're not going to see an improvement.

Example: draw calls. If you compare the r331 to r334, there was a huge improvement (200% to close to 500%) but there was effectively no gain (for my games) from that.

aren't these drivers better suited for an old system like Sig rig where the CPU can really hold back the GPU's performance (and i don't mean my GTX460 tongue.gif)

How did you come to that conclusion?

Hardware Canucks does all testing at 1440p and disagrees.
Techpowerup does 1600p testing and disagrees.

There are some games the 290x does indeed win but the overall average goes to the Ti.

Right here in my own damn machine.

I did a quick compare when building a friends machine just to see if I would be better suited with a 780ti. I guess not.

It's most certainly possible that the games that you play in particular do favor the 290x.

But in the overall picture, every published review gives the nod to the Ti in overall performance by a small amount.

Results based off multiple samples are always more accurate than a single sample.

Both cards are beasts and would not be worth selling 1 of either to buy the other. They give virtually the same gameplay experience.

I suspect it's a fair bit of both.

I agree with this.

Both companies highlight best case scenario when presenting this. I doubt this is going to do much for those of us with high end rigs.

It was definitely a very small margin indeed. 2-3fps average.

1080P was a different story, the 780ti had a 10% lead over my 290x.

GTX 780 and Gsync are two very recent examples where AMD had nothing on the table but Nvidia released anyway.

As for the 680, there was no other GPU ready. GK110 was not ready until fall 2012 which is when Nvidia released the workstation version.

GTX 680 probably should have been GTX 660 with 670 and 680 being GK110 variants in the fall.

Besides, if Nvidia would have released the 680 as a 660 with a $300 price tag, that would have been the worst thing they ever could have done to AMD.
This should have tested AMD as well, and their capability. I know AMD has no answer to the Gsync at the moment, but we've already seen TressFX & Raptr and some decent drivers from them. We might possibly also see AMD version of TXAA in future.
