I think you may be confused, The GK104 is a midrange part however due to yield issues and the fact Nvidias mid-range part (GK104 GTX 680) matched and in some cases beat AMD 7970 at the time of release.

Well 7970 eventually turned to be a midrange part itself.

It would appear so, I'm sure I'll see you in the next Nvidia thread.

Keep fighting the good fight thumb.gif

Are you one of those who think if a card has MSRP of $500; it's a flagship?

That is my point.

GK110 was nowhere near ready either so keep buying that story.

You're intentionally ignoring the fact that Nvidia always had a big die planned. It's like arguing my i7 2600k was Intels flag ship product just because X79 hadn't yet been released when everyone knew SB-E was incoming.

Nvidia promoted it as their flag ship when they realised their big die wouldn't be ready and they could overclock their mid-range part to compete with the oppositions top tier. That doesn't really change the fact that it was always intended to be mid-range in their overall strategy.

Bad example... Sandy Bridge E is still Sandy Bridge,

Gtx 600 =/= Gtx 700. Two different series.

So what you mean to say is that the product that was the best GPU that Nvidia could economically and technologically produce was not their high-end product? :kookoo:

The best product available is a company's flagship. There could be a slight grey area in the weeks before the launch of the next flagship, but the 680 was out for a lot longer than that.

my 680sli can easly do 60fps on any game (specially since the shield is 720, with 1080 for when you use an otg network adapter) tongue.gif i use the shield for games like portal2/stick of truth/gods among us/fighters/misc 1st person games tongue.gif

while gsync lets me max out quality on mp games and i dont have to care if its sub 144fps framerate (90+ normally)
