help overclock my 3770k

Thread Starter
I've been running 45x100 for the last few months without an issue, ( although I've not properly stress tested it ) and I'm wanting to go higher, preferably to the goal of 50x100, however, I'm having a hard time even stressing my current config without my temps hitting threshold, and I'm wondering what I can do from within the BIOS. I'll post my current config below, which I got from this thread.

EDIT: I've read that lowering LLC/PLL can reduce temps; I don't really seem to notice that much of a change tho?

Ah, I was hoping I wouldn't have to take that route, should be fun though.

Cheers.

Vice method is easiest and much safer.
You can take screen shots of your bios, all you have to do is have a flash drive in and press the print screen button. thumb.gif
If you are using the 100i and hitting threshold then your overclock isn't very well and you should probably lower it, delidding will help but you might not have a good enough cpu to go higher if it's that bad. Do a little stress testing and show us your temps and vcore, please. biggrin.gif
That is a great thread to learn from as well, I'm sure you could have posted your information there and they would have helped you. A lot of good helpers that know a lot and are always helping people overclock hang around there.

I'm currently doing a run at 45x100 at 1.28v with LLC on extreme. I tried it on 75% though Prime95 stopped within 2 minutes. After putting it on 100% it's stable. I'm trying to see what the lowest voltage I can get on 45x100 is. Also notice that CPU-Z is showing 1.31v while my BIOS is 1.28v, overshooting it by a fair amount I feel. Would it be worth my while picking up some new TIM for the H100i block? I'm still using the stuff that came with it, more than six months ago.

Prime95/Custom Blend, 15 min, 1600mb (not 90%)

1 minute in and temps jumped from 45c idle to 81c.
2 minutes in and it shot up to 89/93c
3 minutes in and it dropped back down to 88c.
6 minutes in and it went up to about 92c.
11 minutes in and it's back down to 82c.
20 minutes in and it's hitting the threshold/limit.

The TIM provided with the H100i is fairly good.
You wouldnt see any good improvement by just changing the TIM.

Unfortunately you have not won the Silicon lottery. 1.28V is pretty high for 4.5GHz ... or me just got lucky.

EDIT: YOU DID what ?! ... you reached over 100C ... Stop it, before you damage your chip if you really want to use that OC 24/7 rolleyessmileyanim.gif
I would try to hit 85-90 at the most for Prime95 ... BUT, the lower the better!

I myself changed from a H100 to a H100i to full custom Loop ... and you know the temps dropped by a fair amount wink.gif
