Is there a difference between a Radeon 7970 running at 1000 MHz core and an official "7970 GHz Edition"?

I have this Gigabyte 7970 factory overclocked to 1000 MHz core, as far as I know it came out before AMD came up with those GHz Edition 7970s and I'm just wondering if there are any differences between a regular 7970 overclocked to 1 GHz and a proper "GHz Edition" 7970. Outside of the clock speeds, of course. Thanks!

There are no differences beside core / memory clocks. HD7970 GHz edition is clocked @ 1050/1500MHz.

If you OC your card @ 1050/1500 you would get identical performance and basically a GHz edition card.

A R9 280X which is basically a rebranded HD7970 is clocked at 1000/1500MHz therefore out of the box it's slower than HD7970 GHz edition .
