Samsung Galaxy S5 Thread - Page 4

I haven't noticed any lag on the Galaxy S5 so far.

Just a word though: any phone can get laggy with X amount of apps on.

There is no thing as a lag-free phone even with advances in CPU computing power. This is because apps are getting more and more demanding too.

Hardware and software are both advancing at the same time.

And yes, the HTC One M8 has its laggy moments as well.

Samsung's Galaxy S5 is off to a strong start, a new report out of Korea claims.
Samsung's flagship handset, which launched worldwide on Friday, has in some markets doubled the Galaxy S4's launch-day sales last year, ZDNet Korea, a CNET sister site, is reporting. In other markets, the Samsung Galaxy S5's launch-day sales were up 30 percent compared to the Galaxy S4.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S5 on Friday across the world. The device comes with a 5.1-inch HD display and runs Android 4.4 (KitKat). Samsung has also polished its TouchWiz user interface to give the software a bit more user-friendliness.

Neither Samsung nor ZDNet Korea have so far reported launch-day sales, but sell-outs in several markets around the world were recorded. ZDNet Korea also claims that it spoke with an unnamed Samsung representative who said that Galaxy S5 sales so far are in the millions.

CNET has contacted Samsung for comment on the report. We will update this story when we have more information.

LG has it built into the phone...samsung has it on the case frown.gif
They need to make it a standard phone feature like Nokia.

Since I've never had a phone that could charge wirelessly, is it fast? Does it heat up the device a lot?

If you plan on rooting it then it's irrelevant, but otherwise something to think about. I'm going to try and play with both in BB before I make my decision.

Doesn't seem there will be an easy way to root or if at all. At least with att and verizon they have the bootloader locked down and AFAIK even the Note 3 on those carriers still don't have full blown root/custom recovery/custom rom/kernel. The only thing they have managed to do is get small tweaks as a work around. From what I have read it is not so much the people smart enough can't figure it out, it is they don't want to put in the time as they are on a different carrier or have the google play edition.

It pisses me off to know end knowing Att and Verizon do this, along with Samsung. The only options I have are to use a different carrier (Tmobile which I don't want to do), get a different phone that is more developer friendly (htc or lg) or pay full price for a google play edition. None of those options are viable for me and the last one really pisses me off as well. The main advantage to buying a phone at full price is to use it on a cheaper plan. Well my plan is cheap enough and I want a good network. So why they can't just discount the GPE as well is beyond me.

Sorry for the rant but I am so frustrated with the carriers and Samsung right now. Prime example only 16gb on launch with no timeline for 32gb?! rolleyes.gif
