4670k vs 8350 - Page 3

Now I want to go on record as saying the 4770K would be the choice. I do not nor would I recommend the 4670 from the 8350. Also for fun here are some graphs.
Remember 9590 is 5.0Ghz (for a certain someone making irrational claims):

Skyrim would get a serious increase with the BDC(bulldozer conditioner) by Stilt, but I posted so no one thinks I am just cherry picking here. (X87 code)

And the 4770 against the 9590 (relax I am NOT pushing a 9590, just killing 2 birds with one stone: the 4770K is a good/great choice and the 5.0Ghz FX can easily handle a 4670 which the 4770K is better than). Any way here you go:

Unless your friend plans to actually use more than two cores, the G1820 could be awesome and save him some money or let him buy a better GPU/SSD/Something.

He likes tech even if he doesn't use it. I know it sounds weird and sounds like I'm pushing my old stuff (even though the mobo is barely two weeks old) onto him but believe me when I say he wants the best he can buy for his budget. He wants this to be able to handle any game he throws at it but still be a budget pc. He just bought an Xbox one and will game mostly on that but he wants a computer to own a custom computer. I have given a lot of thought to it and figured if I don't use this stuff in his build I'll use it someone elses or put it on ebay.

Thankfully one of my buddies from back home said he would pick me up the processor and ship it to me from micorcenter. So the choice is getting a little easier between the 4670k(194.00 shipped) and the 4770k (274.00 shipped)

For a motherboard, it depends on what you're looking to get out of it.

Right now I have a 2600K in a Z75 Pro3 which works just fine. I would have gotten an even cheaper one, but I needed features not present on cheaper chipsets.

Look at the chart here to see features of the chipsets. (For Haswell and the next gen Broadwell, 4670K/4770K + next gen)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_1150

Do you want PCI Slots?
Is built in Wifi needed?
Do you care for RAID?
Are you looking for a high overclock?
Do you want to plug in a lot of fans without getting a separate fan controller?
Is 2 RAM slots fine?

Whatever you don't plan to use, look for a good motherboard without it and you can save some money. No point in spending money on unneeded features, or going with a high specced motherboard that may lack a simple PCI Slot making a sound card/usb port add in card unusable.

Mantle will not be an AMD CPU savior; its just shifting the bottleneck back onto the GPU. When games really need that CPU power, Intel will still be clearly faster.
what games are so meticulously threaded that the 8320 beats a 4670K? From what I've seen, it takes a 5GHz AMD chip to match or barely beat a stock 4670K. And that's ignoring all the games that aren't so wonderfully optimized (the vast majority of them)

I'm actually thinking of going with the msi board it has really good reviews saves some money and still fits the color scheme. I would love to order the rog boards but the price is killer and won't allow me to order my sleeved cables
