fx 8350 vs 4670k

Thread Starter
I am running into the opportunity of upgrading my current System. My buddy wants a budget build and with the parts I have laying around the house I can build him a system for about $600.

This is where me upgrading comes into play. I was going to sell him my formula-z and fx-8350 and pick up A maximus vi formula and a 4670k.

System will be used mainly for gaming and some school work. System will have a full custom loop. The rest of the rig is my sig rig.

As I said before on your build log,the i5 4670 Haswell is a very good chip for gaming, and the K series has very good overclocking potentials, especially if you're perhaps planning to de-lid it in the future..
Case in point:
comparison between the two chips , and bit-tech's review conclusion

I run both and the Intel is by far a better gaming platform. You may want to hold off for the Hazwell refresh it should be out very soon.

The problem is if I choose to upgrade I am building my buddies system on the 15th. So I won't have a computer until the new chips come out if I had a hard date I may be able to hold the build off until than but no hard nothing to tell him

Ya I know what you mean they're never very solid on release times and K version is typically released later this is the best I can do

Either way I have the 4770K and it's a great CPU TBH. You wouldn't be disappointed going with the 4670K

I would get the i5 4670k and a cheaper motherboard, you dont need that high end mobo to clock good. And yes the i5 4670k is better for gaming than the fx8350. Later on you can always buy a used i7 4770k when "only" 4 cores is "too little". In other words a future proof build.
