must be something wrong then because physx makes my fps drop like a box of rocks in metroLL

Really? It's been a while, but I played LL on my 780 (non Ti) and don't remember having any issues with PhysX on. I think the sewer rapids was the worst of it, but other than that it played surprisingly well. headscratch.gif

i still got good playable fps, but it was noticeably lower with physx on even when the physx wasnt going crazy lol.

Still mesmerized by your avatar. tongue.gif

But yeah. Cuckoo fans of you know who will say the weirdest things to support their argument. Suddenly overclocking ability of the GK110 doesn't matter according to them.........alrighty then. I just sit back and laugh at some of the stuff I read from the cuckoo contingent these days. Truly mind blowing.

Back on Topic, how many new cards do we think 28nm has left for Nvidia prior to Maxwell? If we think Nvidia is going to sit on it's ass and coast for 9 months we are crazy.

So how much Milk is left in the Cow that is Kepler ? I mean past the Black, Z and possibly hypothetical 790, all extremely high end which I cannot believe. Do we forsee a new mainstream card this summer or fall?

Nine months is a long time for these guys.

Shame this is a news thread...this one is begging for memes....about cows.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them release a rebranded 670 as a 760 Ti now that AMD's R9 280 is out. IIRC they already sell a part with that branding to OEMs.

But other than that, Kepler's pretty much got a card for every price/performance bracket.

Honestly, there isn't much left for NVIDIA to milk out of Kepler. Full dies have been released, and the only card left is a 790.

Unless they do a refresh of the refresh, which would be pointless either way.

If this rumor is true, I can see more 28nm Maxwell cards coming out.

Agreed. Given Maxwell's performance per watt they could easily bump the TDP up a tad with more CUDA cores and still make a lot of gains on 28nm. We'll see I guess. I'd say the highest end Maxwell may be reserved for 20nm (for transistor density) but it's very possible 28nm based Maxwell could pass the GTX 780ti. My napkin math tells me that the 60W TDP Maxwell doubled the performance over the 60W TDP Kepler. So if they do the same with Maxwell at 175W TDP? Could be interesting. Considering how much the performance per watt improved over kepler.

I forsee a new mainstream card this fall, yes. In a certain sense, that you've picked up on, they can't not. But it won't be Kepler. The Titan Z is basically it. The only theoretical thing still left from Kepler is a 790, with two non-Titan GPUs for a lower (but still high) price.

The real question is how much 28nm Maxwell we're going to get. I believe that the 750 was a one-off: something to show off the new architecture, before the process shrink was ready, and to build an expectation of what Maxwell is going to look like. I don't think we'll see more 700-series, 28nm Maxwell. But with the talk of delays on 20nm, there's always a chance. I for one am not sure they would be able to realistically set up a new mainstream card in response to any particular delay - the 750, to me, seems like something they had planned for a while.

It also seems clear to me that the 800 series will be 20nm Maxwell, whenever that happens to be. I'd be very surprised if it were anything else.
