PC for school

Thread Starter
I am heading back to school soon. Part of me going back to school is VA Vocational Rehab will pay for a computer for me. Now they wont let me buy parts, has to be a prebuilt. Everyone keeps telling me to go mac, voc rehab will even buy a Mac Pro with up to a 30" monitor...but i dont want a mac lol. For people in this field, what pc specs are required/prefered.

For those in GD, is mac really a better option? Even if i was to go mac i would probably be running windows more. Im still in the deciding my degree field. All my testing points to graphic design, computer tech or photagraphy so out of those i really like graphic design with what i have been seeing. Thanks any input on even choice, info about job would be great.

Edit: now just trying to get the best, most powerful pc i can get them to buy so i dont have to upgrade so soon.

if someone else will pay the premium, why not buy a mac? you can always run windows on it.

Everything is practically Mac in the design world. My fiance graduated from UC Davis in Design and everything is Mac. She works for a magazine and EVERYTHING is Mac. Apple seems to be a lot more intuitive for designers. I know there are some PCs out that do design fine, but I have always seen more Macs. You do not really to worry about a video card but if it can fit in the budget then you can do some gaming also haha.

The Mac Pro All in one with that sexy 1600p? 1440p? screen is sexy.

In all seriousness though OP, here you go

http://www.ibuypower.com/
www.cyberpowerpc.com/

You can make a custom built PC, with a warranty, and make it however you like, at either of those two sites. They are considered to be pre-builds as you get them pre-built. biggrin.gif

Mac. Get the mac. HP is BS, Sony is worse and Dell makes crap too (I'm talking to you alienware!)

Go for that, upgrade the storage and get the thunder, Thunder, THUNDER! bolt display. Should equal around $5300. Little over, just tell them to take it out of the chair budget. My god I want a $1000 chair lol. Better have a mini-fridge and be heated/cooler.
