Well you'll always be able to force some supersampling thru your hardware drivers at the very least.

I can't understand how people keep bringing up gameplay and storyline over and over...those two facets of the game were already developed and set in stone, before they decided to release the game on PC as well (Or were certainly well underway)...all they had to do, was put the effort in to allow some options for graphics, and map out the controls for mouse and keyboard, and up the frame limit.
Some of those things I just mentioned then were done within minutes by a modder with Dark Souls 1 on PC...how is it stretching their budget or their project time (They've already delayed the PC release of the game..) to accomplish such basic things, that are what I would call prerequisites for a title on PC?...

Stop being so apologetic for dev teams that are clearly useless..they will continue to think its fine to get away with cutting every corner they can, and under delivering on every promise they make...also its pretty clear their publishing team concocted the brilliant idea of them to release alpha screens of a game that looked impressive, so that it would generate enormous hype and gain them sales..almost every dev/publisher does this practice these days..it's actually a bit of a shock when that isn't the case and a game comes out looking like it was advertised as, and has all the features it was promised to have.

How do you do this if you can do it for most stuff?

No one gave a hell here...I don't see why people all of a sudden caring now. Why are some games looked over but others aren't? Infinite looked infinitely better in every area pre-release.

Infinite went through many changes, but they were at least represented in the marketing leading up to the games release. It's still annoying watching early demos that they have no intention of fulfilling, but it's much more tolerable.

Of course that is only relevant to the console controversy, it seems Bandai is attempting to avoid further problems by removing the unrepresentative screens. If true, at least they are trying to be more honest finally with the PC release, but it's too little too late to gain my sale.

People did care. Most notably many where disappointed that the free world moving along the rails was removed. But in the end its far harder to judge gameplay form videos so people are less likely to raise a fuzz over that unless its really radical changes.

As for the the alpha graphics vs retail. I would say they weren't really different. The main differences came form how the scripted events played out.

Back on topic. I will be very disappointed if Dark Souls 2 does not live up to the alpha graphics on PC especially since From software has stated that the PC was their lead platform and they intend to do a proper PC version.

Who cares, real Souls fans know what the Souls series is about, it's running on crappy ancient hardware what do you expect anyways.

I've been playing Dark Souls 2 on ps3 since release and i cant wait to get it on PC.

Game is amazing, fancy lighting or not, and jeez it doesnt even look bad at all.

Awesome game is awesome.

I was about to say besides the different scripted events the graphics look just like that maxed out on my pc.

Like I've tried explaining before. DS is not about the visuals, it never has been. It has always been about the combat, that is where the "immersion" you keep gripping about is at.

Yes, a great looking game would be nice, but far more weight is placed on the combat mechanics. I am far more worried about the half-borked targeting in regards to spell-casting than some lighting.

It is a combat mechanics focused game
