Mic wise you can do his diy mic, or you can check out the Antlion ModMic too if you want a "headset" thing going on. I personally never thought Blue mics were that great price/performance until you got to the Yeti.

There is a mod for the Q701 where you take off two little dampening pads off holes in the headphones that increases the bass quite a bit. Some people say they sound flabby so they recommend poking holes in it, but to me it gives it a pretty tight, linear bass. I would say it gets around the level 1 bass port opening on the Custom One Pros, if you have ever heard those.

Philips X1 (for competitive, then EQ out the bass a fair bit) + V-Moda Boom pro 3.5mm microphone (slots into the headset) = sorted. I have them both and it's superb combo, like really that good.
